Chicog
The Football Association is investigating allegations England manager Sam Allardyce used his role to negotiate a £400,000 deal and offer advice on how to "get around" rules on player transfers. The Telegraph claims to have footage from August of Allardyce meeting men claiming to represent a Far East firm where he appears to say third-party ownership rules can be avoided. The 61-year-old has yet to respond to the allegations, while the FA has asked to see the paper's filmed recordings. Third-party ownership of players was banned by the FA in 2008. During the meeting with the businessmen, who were undercover reporters, it is alleged Allardyce said it was "not a problem" to bypass the rules and he knew of agents who were "doing it all the time". It is alleged by the paper that a deal was struck with the England boss worth £400,000, which could represent a conflict of interest if he is paid by a company whose footballer clients could benefit from preferential treatment by an international manager. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37479135

Chicog
I think they'll either rap his knuckles (if the press stops now), or drag out their investigation until after the Malta and Slovenia games and give him his P45. That gives them a month to find a replacement. Added: If he does go, he'll have one of the best England records ever: 100% and never conceded a goal in any competitive match. katana
Allardyce has history in being caught on camera in a sting by undercover reporters. Back in 2006 Allardyce, and his son, Craig, were implicated in a BBC Panorama documentary, Undercover: Football's Dirty Secrets, which alleged that he had taken "bungs" (bribes) from agents for signing certain players. Two agents, Teni Yerima and Peter Harrison, were secretly filmed, each separately claiming that they had paid Allardyce through his son. Allardyce denied this and stated he was going to sue the broadcaster to clear his name but failed to ever issue libel proceedings.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Allardyce#Corruption_allegations

daveAustin
What a wankker and just a complete shower of shiite The England is. The whole kit n caboodle should go into dormancy for at least 10 years so people don't have to be consistently embarrassed and disappointed. StevieH
best thing about this is that it's not in any way remotely surprising. you've always really known that allardyce is an arrogant bastard who would think that he could get away with this sort of thing, or with anything, simply because he has this ludicrous 'big sam' persona. it is though amusing that he turns out to be so monumentally stupid as to talk about it openly with a bunch of total strangers over a pint of wine. and as mentioned above, it's not like the FA weren't warned before - the bbc panorama show 10 years ago cast massive doubt on allardyce. now, having hung the england manager out to dry, it'll be interesting to see if the telegraph follows through with the rest of it and names the other 8 managers it claims have been proven to take bungs/bribes. name and shame the lot of them. Chicog
The main reason he got the tin tack is that he rightly admitted that the FA is just about making money. God forbid anyone expose these parasites for what they are.
champers
The press have hounded out 3 England managers in the last 20 years - Big Sam, Glenda & Tel - and 2 others in recent times had their private lives forensically examined by the press - Robson & Eriksson. Can anyone think of any other major international football nation where the press behave in the same way with the same results? BTW, I supported Big Sam's appointment but he has behaved like a total arse in this instance. Eight more top managers are due to be named in relation to transfer bungs by he Telegraph in the next few days. "Squeaky bum time", I recall a certain Scotsman once saying. champers
It's being reported in the UK that the names have already been passed to the FA. Chicog
Absolutely. Who's to say he wouldn't take a backhander from an agent to pick a player? Trust gone. Time to go.
Chicog
"On this basis, I suppose the Allardyce story meets these requirements – particularly as it appears to be only the first instalment of a series which will see the Telegraph later this week reveal further allegations of corruption in professional football. These will apparently include a high-profile manager admitting his players were betting on their own games and a senior figure at a Premier League club who apparently facilitated a plan to bribe managers.
