Bringing a pool pump from Australia

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of bringing a pool pump for personal use from Australia to Phuket which I would declare at Customs. Being classified under Home & Gardens -Outdoors equipment  the import duty is 10% plus the 7% VAT.  I will have the original bill of sale and the name of the company to show proof of the cost, is there anything else that I would need to show to the customs. I'd appreciate any information from Thaivisa Members who have brought pumps into Phuket.

I wanted to bring a garden rotary hoe/cultivator from australia because they are much cheaper there even though they are made in china than they are here, no one was interested in sending one, because of delivery problems, you may have more luck bringing in the pool pump yourself, i would confirm the tax and duty rates and not beleive what i read on the Internet personally

Sorry for the late reply. I decided to buy the pump in Oz which was considerably cheaper than a similar pump here in Thailand. On arriving I went though the Red Zone to declare the pump and was first greeted with some confusion and then told that if it was only one pump and for personal use no duty needed to be paid.
