Blame me, as I blame myself. The contract is in Thai and as I've stated previously, I thought I could TRUST the statement that we would get "3 weeks" off.

Having worked at a government university for 17 years, I have just about seen everything.
The "rules" change every time we have a new Head of Department.

Some say we must sign in every day of the holidays, some say we should just "show our faces once in a while" and others couldn't care less. Some insist we are at the university all day, others don't care.

We follow government regulations when it suits the Thai staff (salary(same salary now as 20 years ago), must attend staff parties and day trips and so on.) but we don't get the same benefits as the Thai staff (foreigners work until 17.30 some days, no pension, no medical benefits, no "study trips" abroad).

Sometimes the rules have been changed during the contract period (changing signing in from anytime of day to before 09.00).

This is Thailand and we just have to accept (and get the most out of it) or leave.

As for holidays, I think I have had 5 official days holiday in the 17 years I have been here. Unofficially, I have lost count.
