Near Miss switching from Thai Wife to Retirement extension?

Featured Replies

Today was the first time I went to CW Bangkok Immigration and got my Non Imm O extension asking to change from Thai Wife to Retirement, because I cannot wait a month for the wife approval process.

Doing so they put a stamp in Thai language that I haven't seen before. I found out from the wife later it basically says in Thai my previous extension based on Thai Wife has been stopped and I have changed to retirement starting from today. **It also has a mistake in it, can anyone spot it as I certainly didn't spot anything wrong? But how is a foreigner to know there's a mistake in it I wonder with it all written in Thai anyway?

I ONLY found out when I applied for an Exit Re-entry visa afterwards on same day. I didn't really have to get a re-entry visa at the time and was planning to maybe apply somewhere else as the queue was 3 hours. However after waiting 3 hours the IO told me my extension stamp was wrong and needed fixing first by the IO who did it before they could finish the re-entry stamp?! I consider this a near miss through no fault of mine. Had I left and tried to get the re-entry visa at another immigration office or the airport on way out, then maybe they'd have sent me all the way back to CW??!

My stamp in passport with mistake in Thai language section top half of page.

Just a guess -they should have extended you to 30 Sep 2017 not 29 Sep 2017

OK, wont keep everyone guessing, but the error was in the Thai only section in top part and was because the IO hadn't signed it. Below is what I needed to get done, then photocopied before a Re-Entry visa was issued. So I'm guessing waiting 3  hours for the re-entry stamp might have saved me more headaches in future. but who knows??
