BANGKOK: -- AT LEAST ONE STORM is forecast to reach Thailand by next week, weather experts said yesterday, but the Royal Irrigation Department assured the public the flood situation in the country had improved and was under control.

Sanchai Ketworrachai, RID director-general, said flooding in the Central Plain had eased, as the water level in the Chao Phraya River in Ayutthaya continued to fall by 1 centimetre per hour and the situation should soon be back to normal soon.

Buntham Tinglamlert of the Meteorological Department said that although the Central region would get more heavy rain this week, it would come from a monsoon trough and not the storm.

The operative word being "major"?

So it is flooding and just not major by their standards. Sounds reasonable?:passifier:

No = No need to swim home yet but you will get wet.

Bangkok had several main roads flooded yesterday causing much congestion and accidents.

Well it's going to flood in Lala Land

Excuse me, BUT......If my vehicle is submerged up to the damn windows, that's what many would consider a major flood...!

anything over half way up the wheel arches looks like a fairly major flood to me. have to wonder if they are driving around with there water up to their ankles in their cars. is there still mains power in the buildings?

Nothing to worry about and little action until the ' water waiting to drain away ' starts to really threaten Bkk.

Perhaps their reason for having overhead utilities cables is to ensure power during floods? Thai ingenuity.

The water was only half way up on the ducks at my place.

That could be their reason but underground cables are not effected by water.

I wonder have they thought about the storm jumping on top of the monsoon trough?

Judging by the water on the roads this morning (Phitsanulok) after only about 4 hours rain, it won't take much to make it a major issue. River Nan is running pretty high but would have a bit to go before it would burst. Not quite to this level yet..................

I long ago gave up bothering with what Thai weather forecasters predict - as, in my experience, they are nearly always wrong.

Might just as usefully toss a coin into the air and guess on the outcome!

Straight FACE B4 the storm as usual..... :guitar::guitar:

...all about keeping the tourists coming.....

Nothing to see here. Move on. That woman from the north will be paying for any damage. :stoner:
