BANGKOK: -- People living downstream of the Chao Phraya dam in Chainat province have been warned to brace for increasing level of water in the Chao Phraya river which is anticipated to rise by about 20 cm as irrigation officials are speeding up the discharge of water downstream via the dam.

Meanwhile, irrigation officials in charge of the Pasak Cholasit dam in Lop Buri have increased the discharge of water from the dam to 500 cubic metre/second from 460 cubic metre/second or 43 million cubic metres a day in anticipation of more runoffs pouring into dam as a result of continuing heavy rains in the northern region.

The increased outflow of water from Chao Phraya dam in order to cope with additional inflow of runoffs because of the looming low pressure trough is expected to push up the water level of the river from Sappaya district of Chainat all the way downstream through Sing Buri’s Prom Buri district, Ang Thong’s Pa Moke district and Ayutthaya’s Sena district by another 20 cm.

Great water management plan.

How many committees did that take?
