I don't have any experience in offering money to get out of an offence. But it's famously commonplace in Thailand. I would like to know what to expect, if/when it comes to it.

Is it customary for the official or the offender to bring it up?

What's the customary discount? Does it differ from traffic violations to immigration?

Any other helpful tips are appreciated.

It might be famously commonplace  as you put it but Thai Visa is not the place to ask
