PHUKET: Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Kathu early this morning who was blasted in the back with a shotgun in an attack that his wife says was most likely motivated over her husband’s romantic affairs with another woman.

Kathu Police first learned of the shooting after staff at Phuket International Hospital called at 1am today (Oct 8) to report that a Mr Jumnong Kaewphrod, 41, was being treated for shotgun wounds to his back.

Doctors managed to remove two of the six projectiles that had entered his body.

Police arrived at the hospital to question Mr Jumnong’s wife, who said the attack occurred in front of Golden View Village in Kathu, where the couple live.

Police soon arrived at the scene to find blood and Mr Jumnong’s shoes on the ground beside a van, but no evidence of a gun or shotgun cartridge, said Lt Col Sawanya Eidthrong of the Kathu Police.

“The attack apparently happened at about 11pm. Neighbours heard gunfire and came out to see what happened, and saw Jumnong on the ground,” Lt Sawanya said.

If Thai only would see the benefits of learning social skills other then shown on Soap opera's

Anger management is standard not there, with desasterous results be it in traffic , @ home or just out doors

The smart Phone screen zombies are estatic about hiding face and composure, shy away behind screens and selfies, hundreds of them.

Mass addiction and no cure insight, we better watch our back's!

- Married van driver having multiple girlfriends, wife still staying with him and him getting shot over a woman

- Getting shot in front of a housing estate, neighbours checking it out, yet he police learning of the incident 2 hours later because the hospital called them

- A man with life threatening wounds getting transferred across town from a well equiped hospital to a cheaper one while still having bullets in his body and barely hanging on to life which resulted in his death

I see, business as usual. A life is worth jack s**t.

"Fatal shooting"?

Died from six pellets?

Or, is this just more shoddy reporting?

resident TV ballistics expert here. shot gun with buck can fire 9 projectiles each equal in power to a 9mm hand gun. get shot with 6 of them at short to medium range its probably going to be fatal. i have noticed recently the soaps have stopped blurring out the firearms when they are pointed or shot at someone. i was assuming the army did not like people thinking it was the wrong thing to do. maybe this idea has backfired?

Shootings, stabbings,Thais killing each other on a daily basis,no longer comes as a surprise.Even Thai suicides are very much the norm now days.People in traffic accidents being killed, shot at,dying.Thai jealousy and rage is the cause of many murders, and killings.Even victims being transferred across town to cheaper hospitals being found DOA,is normal. The reluctance to investigate and the dragging of heels by the RTB is all part of the grand scheme. Also the death rate of people in Thai soaps contribute to this.

And the grand scheme is. 'let them die,it helps to decrease the surplus population and also keeps us from having to spend money on building new prisons so we can find new places for our ever expanding low class criminals,a budget, may i remind the house, that has long been over plundered'

Looks like eight or nine holes, There is nine large buck shot in a double OObuck shotgun shell, looks like he was about 50' from his assailant by the pattern if it wasn't a sawed off shotgun. Not much chance of surviving that.

I think it was likely a shortened barrel at closer range.

If the shooter was on a motorbike then concealing a long gun would be difficult.

Very true closer range then, but maybe "she" just walked out the door and shot him.

"Died from six pellets?" - 12 Gauge "Buckshot" at close range are hardly "pellets."

Must have known his target well, to shoot him in the back.

“However, Mr Jumnong’s wife and his friends told us that Mr Jumnong had many girlfriends. They believe the attack resulted from conflict over a woman. This seems to be the reason why the person shot him,” he said.

This butterfly won't be spreading his wings any longer.

Of course, you are taking "Mr. Jumnong's wife's" word that he was a "butterfly."

Maybe they were about to break up, and the house, car, money etc etc was all his.

Greed is just as much a motive as lust.

Did you miss the part where it said "his friends" also made the statement about his butterfly tendencies?

I keep an open mind with the dodgy reporting here.

Not much difference between "his" and "hers."

Why do you rule the wife out????

Have you considered the possibility that maybe it was a guy shagging the victim's wife?

Just for you, CC.

If that's what a Thai wife would do to a Thai husband, especially considering the two families live in Thailand, makes you wonder how many farang actually jumped off the balcony, doesn't it?

I hope you live on the ground floor, CC.
