BANGKOK, 10 October 2016 (NNT) – The Deputy Prime Minister has affirmed the selection of 33 new National Legislative Assembly (NLA) members was based on knowledge and ability with none made to return favors.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has responded to comments the new list of NLA members contains a large amount of military officers by saying that their selection was based on individual knowledge, experience and ability as well as the needs of the NLAs subcommittees as derived from the nation’s roadmap. He asserted none of the choices were based on favors or nepotism.

NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai refrained from commenting on the list, saying it was the authority of the National Council for Peace and Order and letting on only that he had given them his impressions on the criteria for selection but did not take part in the process.

Of course he does.

Neatly putting as much distance between and Prawit as possible.

Can't blame him for that.

Of course not. "Trust me I am Thai".

This is a very serious development !!!

With so much knowledge and ability being pulled from the ranks of the Thai military (to bolster those already in the NLA), the country is at risk of being left leaderless if Cambodia were to stage a pre-emptive strike!

Then again, it's probably ok, as the Thai military has always been less concerned with external threats as it is with internal opposition.

Nepotism.......never...these are all his good buddies from the Army club.....very smart chaps they are......all with flying wings and more badges and bars on their shirts than Buck Rogers!

It saddens when you look at these people lying through their teeth you know it they know it , Pawtwit would be a poor choice to make any selections , there would not be one military person that has any clue how a  government and or administrations work, that's like asking a Loco or truck  driver to prepare the budget or expand the water resources, and you only have to look at the fine performance that Prayut has put in,   score out of 10 , 1 for being there................................................................:coffee1:

blah blah blah blah

The "returned favors" will come from the appointees to Prawit, ... not the other way around. The NNT should know this already. :coffee1:

the ability to follow orders

Definately no favoritism. They have been chosen by the same NCPO and according to the same criteria as the previously 200 appointed NLA members!

Another statement of fact from an absolute witness of truth and another episode of ' All In The Family '.

No favours for his girlfriend either, just an all expenses taxpayer paid international holiday.   The guy has to learn to keep his mouth shut because it pours every time he opens it.  What imbecile would appoint a clown like this as Deputy P.M.

Cmon guys you not Thai you no understand. You not sa- mart same Thai.

Birds of a Feather.

"Bring me Solo and the wookie! They will all pay for this outrage."

As an old Star Trek fan I could swear I saw this guy on deck on some of the old shows. He looks like he may have had a bad trip through the Transporter.
