Police officers on Aug. 12 patrol Suvarnabhumi Airport hours after a series of bomb and arson attacks struck seven southern provinces on the same day.

BANGKOK — All police units in Bangkok’s southeastern suburb of Samut Prakan have been alerted for possible car bomb attacks at several landmarks, including one of the capital city’s two international airports, according to a leaked police memo.

Marked “Most Urgent,” the memo was signed by the Samut Prakan police commander on Oct. 8, though the commissioner outright disputed its authenticity in a phone interview. He also urged the media not to report about the matter, out of concern for national security.

“It’s not real,” Maj. Gen. Thammanoon Traithippayapong said” yet

“…national police Deputy Commissioner Srivara Ransibrahmanakul told reporters the memo is genuine”

Disrespect for the populace, lies are not even co-ordinated.

It must be reassuring for the public to know they have the best police force in the world protecting them.

It's not a question of the right hand not knowing what the left is doing, it hasn't reached that level yet as the right hand doesn't even know what it is doing.

Memo what memo.

Police on alert to look out for suspected southern bombers

BANGKOK: -- Metropolitan and provincial police have been put on alert to look out for suspected southern militants following intelligence reports that they plan to launch car bomb attacks in Bangkok and its peripherals during October 25-28.

The intelligence reports prompted Pol Gen Srivara Rangseepromnakul, the deputy national police chief, to call an urgent meeting on Monday of senior police investigators of Metropolitan Police Bureau, Provincial Police Bureau 2 and 7, Immigration Police Bureau, the Central Investigation Bureau and the Special Branch to map out measures to deal with the reported threat.

According to the intelligence report, the southern militants have eyed three targets for the attacks namely shopping malls, car parks and tourist destinations.

Pol Gen Srivara said that normally the alert of possible attacks by southern militants was confined to the restive Deep South, but this time the alert was shifted to Bangkok and its peripherals. He admitted that this could be a plot to create public panic.

Like the proverbial cat, the word is well and truly out http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/breaking-news/security-stepped-up-in-bangkok-amid-threat/news-story/a5845936476669cfd97a9e6ae94fb8aa

Will police be pursuing deputy police chief Srivara Ransibrahmanakul, as they were asked to chase those who released the leaked passenger list of Prawit’s trip to Hawaii ???

Give it a couple of hours and there will be a statement form the top, no, no it's not the BRA, it's not terrorism, it's not Uyghurs it's just very naughty boys.

This story has got to go as the end of Oct is dangerously close to the start of tourism's high season and nothing can be allowed to interfere with visitors arriving.

The good minister has been quiet for a while so this is an ideal opportunity for her to step and announce advance bookings are going through the roof and there are no, absolutely no, cancellations and none are expected.

info like this should never ever be covered up, if there is a possible threat then it should always be made public no matter what, the public are a very necessary tool in combating such attacks, if anything they should be telling the public what to look for and to stay vigilant and report anything suspicious to the authorities immediately

Thanks for the heads-up, anyway.

I've already fixed this sticker on the underside of my car....just in case I need to go to Suvarnabhumi, or visit a shopping mall.....

To be in the capable hands of those people is a relief.

Soon there will be a theory, just wait. And then an other one. The one with the shiny forehead is thinking hard, he wants to be first.

Oh Yes.

Right lads I have rank over the rest of you so the first stupid comment of the day is mine. The rest can take their turn after me based on rank and seniority.

Step 1. Identify who leaked the memo

Step 2. Have the DSI arrest them and issue them a new pair of socks

Step 3. Buy more amulets

2 or 3 years !!!!!!!!!!!!! There might not be much left to see by then----------- everybody walking around like zombies with microchips inside,no prostitution all banned. No drugs no cigarettes,no beer or whiskey,no moving around, pick a house and stay there for life.Report to special authority every 48hrs and minimum 2,000,000bt in bank. All laws strictly enforced with only 2 sentences for non-obeyance---- deported or executed.Welcome to the future!!!!!!!!

whose advise is it?

any action taken to avert terrorist attacks is also good for tourism for obvious reasons. matters concerning security should not be swept under the carpet but tackled with best possible resources. there is nothing to hide the fact that the whole world is a possible terrorist target.

So if the BIB  Samut Prakan commander urges not to report about the matter to the media, how this story ended up in Khaosod English then ?

comments of one fertile mind.

There must be a redshirt involved somewhere ? It must be politically motivated ? They can't be Thai ? Its the work of outsiders but they are not terrorists ? There are links to human trafficking gangs ? Anything but the truth.

Does it mean whatever someone declares as "national security" has priority over the security of the nations population?

Looks like "national security" here is considered as: "number of tourist arrivals"
