NONTHABURI: -- The Nonthaburi governor has warned everyone in the province to be on high alert and move valuables upstairs as flood waters approach.

The warnings are an eerie reminder of five years ago when disastrous floods hit areas north of Bangkok and threatened the city, reports Daily News.

With the Pasak Cholasit dam full to bursting Nisit Jansamuang said the situation was highly unpredictable.

He instructed all departments of his administration to get the message out to all households that flooding was imminent as heavy rains threatened to create a crisis as of today.

The situation is also critical in Pathum Thani with similar high alert warnings to district officials and all residents.

The pictures in the article are all from the devastating floods that hit the provinces in October 2011 when most of Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani were under water for two months.

There we go again, and the officials just said it wouldn't happen again....and they did nothing to prevent this from happening since last flooding.

Here we go here we go here we go.

so who is responsible this time?

Ah, the weather!

It's not as if drought and floods are new in Thailand but as soon as one crisis is over officials relax and it's a case of next year can take care of its self.

Not until the flood waters are actually on Bangkok's doorstep is there anything like the Churchillian ' action this day '.

In LoS the attitude is more like  Manana but without quite that sense of urgency.

Yes they relax while being on expensive trips to Europe and USA to see how they fight the water there.

They should have waited a few weeks to take the trip

Then someone else has the flood problem  :whistling:

some how the red shirts are to blame, somehow. maybe the 2 years the army has been in power has not been long enough to fix all the drainage problems the reds caused? yes,  that sounds good.

But the Prime Minster said this was not gong to happen.

Could he be wrong?

Will he resign if the floods come?

In Bangkuai they are insstalling larger drainage pipes as the rainy season is ending. Good planning????

The flood barrier along the river is incomplete and has had NO work done on it in the

4 months I have been here. waiting for it to actually rise????

I will give them credit in Rangsit they have been working on the flood situation with walls along the side of the major canal and they have dredged it out.  The side canals may be another story because of all the junk people throw into them.

But the Prime Minster said this was not gong to happen.

Why would he resigb when he could just invoke S44 and make the floodwaters retreat
