Exchange old Euros in Thailand?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 200 EUR banknote but it's old and the right border is a bit red (not normal).

I tried many exchange places in Pattaya and Chonburi but nobody wants it...

Is there any place to exchange it in Thailand? In Bangkok maybe? Some "official Euro place"?

Thanks

Alex

I have never seen a 200 euro billiet myself. But try the banks around Siam and bring passport and much id, maybe it helps.

200 Euro notes are even less often seen than 500 Euro notes.

Very unpopular in Germany. Not accepted at gas filling stations e.g.

It's quite clear that the normal bank branches and exchange booths will hesitate.

If the pro's in Bangkok (Superrich et.al.) do not accept, you are lost.

In Pattaya: have you tried Yenjit on Walking Street?

Old Euro notes can exchange with old Euro people.

The only thing that Thai banks and currency exchanges do with foreign notes is to sell them onto to customers. If the notes are in any way damaged or discolored or are not recognizable because they are rarely seen, they won't accept them.

Probably better to find someone who is travelling to Europe and sell them to him/her.

Same with US dollars. Once a new version of a bill coems out no one will accept the older version. Find a friend who is going home.

And always bring brand new currency here.
