BANGKOK:-- Government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said that extra transport services - many of them free - would be laid on this weekend for the benefit of visitors to the area of the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew.

All bus transport to the Grand Palace, Sanam Luang and areas nearby will be free of charge and increased in capacity.

Mini vans from upcountry to the area would also be free and would park in the Pin Klao area of the city, a short walk from Sanam Luang.

Three extra trains have also been laid on - again free of charge - to cope with the influx. Extra Skytrain services were also promised.

Meanwhile Sansern said that Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha has reminded security services to be vigilant in the lead up to the end of the month.

Earlier in the week there were fears of a threat of bombs in the city.

The PM ordered all security services to be on the look out and asked for everything to be done to ensure the safety of mourners and the organization of the traffic in the city.
