PATTANI: -- The front command Cabinet tasked with tackling unrest in the deep South has announced it is ready to work towards peace restoration in the region.

The spokesman for the command’s committee to mobilise policy and strategy to solve problems in the Southern border provinces, Samphan Musordee, said a 13-strong team, led by Deputy Defence Minister General Udomdej Sitabutr, started work on October 12.

Samphan said the committee’s seven working plans included security and peace-promotion plans.

I think these guys probably have the currently hardest job in Thailand. Good luck.

"In response to criticism that the team comprised mostly military officers rather than civilians, Prawit reasoned that these military men knew the issue better due to past experience. He also said he did not think this team would require a lot of funding."

"General Aksara Kerdphol, who led the Thai negotiating team, is also a member of this "front command Cabinet".

Lt-General Aksara Kherdphol was Prayut's Chief Negotiator in 2015/2016 prior to his assignment to the FCC. During that time BRN gave him no creditability as a negotiator:

"The [BRN] spokesman said he was worried the new start to the talks between separatists and the government would not be as smooth and the process could be threatened early on if Gen. Akanit head the talks delegation ... we are sure there is no shortage of fine, learned, reasonable, trustworthy and responsible people in Thailand who could do a better job than Gen. Akanit, the prolonged nature of this process requires a person acceptable to the current temporary government and the administration that will come after the election,” - New Peace Talks, September 8, 2014 by a Thai publisher that cannot be cited.

This Forward Command Cabinet is just an old cereal in a new box.

"...Move to restore peace in deep South..."

No matter what the Thai military may say or do, it is a totally misleading statement - implying that there was peace there in the first place (https://is.gd/hylMNd) !!!

To be sure, if these coyotes would only make a genuine and magnanimous effort! Otherwise, this latest propaganda should be seen as nothing more than simply maintaining the status quo (and the suffering and conflict continues).

"Move to restore peace." Really? After 10 years of inaction (or ineptitude) and death and injury to 1000's something is going to be done?

I wonder if I will live long enough to see it.
