I wish they would stop referring to him as an American actor.  He suffers so bad from "Yellow Fever".  He is hardly an American.  Not sure what he is really.

You do seem somewhat fixated with your apparent dislike and hatred of the man.

 

He is a real martial arts expert,  a real reserve police officer and has appeared in films which still get regular TV showings albeit they are light weight escapist. Suggests they are considered entertainment.

 

Now he has shown some respect, which is probably influenced by the fact he is a practicing Buddhist.

Yes he has been to Thailand many times. Noticed him almost 20 years ago in Pattaya Walking street when he exited the restaurant ( now closed I think)  next to Lucky Star bar with his body guards.

I didn't hear any girls screaming or noticed any fans lining up for a signature though, and wonder why such a tough guy needs bodyguards.

The reason for body guards is because there is always some tuff guy ( especially when drunk) who thinks he is invincible and can take the martial arts star out.  Mr. Seagal could easily demolish them but doesn't need to respond to every drunk who comes his way especially if the altercation end in him seriously hurting someone and then he gets sued.

Has Steven Segal met Kim Jong un ? He's met a lot of world leaders. Is he of Asian heritage? These questions come to mind when I hear his name.

What's his connection to Thailand? Many international people of importance die, does he attend all their mourning periods? And many other actors have made movies in Thailand, but don't see them meeting the PM.

I enjoy watching Steven Seagal'  s  action movies. and hope to see more.

He may be a bit older now, but I would rather see him act than to see,  Leo, the new

Climate specialist., who thinks that a chinook wind has something to do with

Global warming. It is a warm wind in Winter that sometimes  comes off the Rocky Mountains

and warms the air east of them, w,arming places like Calgary, and other places that are

close enough to be affected.

Besides a movie that is shot in Thailand  is good for business, and the scenery in so many places

in Thailand is spectacular!

Exactly. Bit like eating a McD burger- when watching a Segal movie one knows what to expect. Some reasonable looking women, some talking, some action. At least they usually have better production values than the B movies WETV likes to inflict on us. It's the visual equivalent of pop music. Not to be taken seriously.

His later movies gave up his attempts at romance, which used to be rather embarrassing, so a good thing.

The most famous one is dead long ago, Jodie Foster made one purporting to be set in Thailand but wasn't, Nicholas Cage made an abominable hash of one, the 3 Americans made an abysmal film that was full of BS about Thailand and no way the PM would be interested in meeting them, IMO.

Of course one can't forget Stallone's film opening stick fighting in Bkk, and working on a temple ( which I went to visit, but they don't remember him ), or Rene Zellweger and Hugh Grant messing about in Krabi.

Then Jason Statham made a rather silly one based on a beach for a bit of the film, but it wasn't very good. No idea if he met the PM or not. Not to forget the one that destroyed the best novel about Thai beach life, the one and only Leo DiCaprio. I forget who was PM when he made that, but he hasn't been back to LOS since, far as I know.

Segal, on the other hand, has made several films in Thailand, and obviously loves the place. Why wouldn't the PM want to see him?

I don't think he was very famous 20 years ago, and his films back then were pretty B status.

The only restaurant near Lucky Star on W S that I remember from 20 years ago is still open. Unless you mean the one behind it near the Coyote bar which have both been demolished.
