A friend of mine is going to Penang in a few days and wanted to confirm all of the necessary requirements to apply for a multiple entry Non-O visa:

- Thailand visa application form Multiple entry, Non-Immigrant O for visiting family requested.

- original passport with > 1 year validity, and a couple of spare pages.

- copy of passport photo/signature page, signed

- 2 passport photos

- copy of mother's/wife's thai id card, signed

- copy of thai dependent's birth certificate, signed  OR copy of Marriage certificate signed

- copy of tambien baan (housebook) page with Wife/dependent's full name/national ID number and parent's first names and the first page with the land/property description. The 2 pages were small enough to fit on one A4 page. Signed.

- Bank statement showing >≈400k baht or equivalent (for non-Thai bank); signed. Can be a non-Thai bank.

- 750 ringgit application fee

He is married to Thai national.  Has anyone done this recently in Penang?

It would be best to say it is a visa based upon being married to a Thai or being the parent of a Thai. Visiting family can get confusing.

If married apply based upon marriage if not then as being a parent.

Same for the supporting documents.

Not sure the download will work on the page you linked to. Visa application form here.  Penang.pdf

I got one (marriage) in June.  I had;

  • Application form
  • 2 photo's
  • Passport
  • Bank book (original+signed copy) showing THB400K+, updated about 1 month earlier
  • Signed copy marriage certificate (had original, wasn't needed)
  • Signed copy wife's ID card
  • Signed copy wife's tabien baan

I used an agent, MYR70, well worth it in my opinion.

Who was the agent, if you can say?  I think Banana or others wanted 150-200 RM for non-imm multiple a couple of years ago when I checked, which I thought was a bit over the top.   70 RM....what time did the agent have it ready?

I used "Jim's Place".  Dropped off in the morning, ready the next day at 2:30pm.

My friend got his visa for being married without any issues.  He did go to the consulate himself.

Had a great time in Penang...even brought back some samosas from Little India.
