Critics warn of loopholes as officials investigated for unfair price fixing

BANGKOK: -- THE NATIONAL Legislative Assembly (NLA) yesterday overwhelmingly backed the first draft of a proposed bill that would legalise contract farming.

I would like to know more about this. I have people working all my farms, I assume 'contract' farmers.

This has been going on for years. I am not sure what the government is trying to solve here, anyone got an idea?

So much for consolidating the argicultural sector into large-scale operations that can use economy of scale such as mechanization and crop rotation to reduce cost of production to maximize profitability. This bill assures that Thailand remains a local farming industry that cannot compete in the global market.

Sounds good buy all the small time farmers a fishing pole to provide food for the table. When the big boys control the production of anything be prepared to pay more in lower quality and higher prices. Profit not providing is their mantra. You can see it all around.
