NLA spokesman Jate Siratharanont said the assembly would tomorrow hold a seminar to prep its members for the four organic laws required for the next general election. The assembly is also planning a retreat trip during which they would intensively examine the laws before passing them, he added. NongKhaiKid Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 What's all the preparation for, surely passing the laws are a foregone conclusion so need to read them far less understand, just do as you're told. As for the general election absolutely no rush as you've all the time in the world before that comes. Incidentally, what's a ' retreat trip ' , is that just a euphemism for a free piss up ? Q. Aren't there any conference halls where a meeting could be held without the expense of using a high end resort or hotel etc. ? A. Yes but why pass up the chance of a half decent freebie.
greenchair Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 So I see the new date is 2018 lol. Early 2018 of course.

Yes, what sickening hypocrisy: as if they are so concerned about law, order and good (just) governanace. The whole process is a sham from start to finish and only ensures that there is NOT just and humane governance and democracy in Thailand. The bit about the 'retreat' is a hoot: it makes these people look like self-abnegating monks, meditating in deep earnest over the best way forward for the nation. Whereas they will in fact - as you intimate - be having a good old booze-up in a lush and luxury holiday complex. And the Thais continue to stand for it all !
Thailand Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Wasn't the result of the next election decided in May 2014?
Brer Fox Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 When the government "races against time to prepare" something you can bet there is something sinister afoot and it is primarily for it's own benefit rather than the people's. With the mention of "seminars" and "retreats" troughs and snouts come immediately to mind.
Raymonddiaz Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 this coming masquerade (election) is not going to be fair. MARK MY WORDS!!! the winners are already known. The military and Suthep Thugs.
Caveat Emptor Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Whenever they try to make it look as if they're doing something positive they actually highlight the BS even more ! Fool me once etc but they rely more on the indifference of the average Thai plus bully boy tactics when needed.
JAG Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 "Racing against time" Came as a surprise did it?
chainarong Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Nothing like a bit of Organic fertilizer to start the B/S rolling.....................................
