natway09
As long as our stupid society puts such a false monetary value on a bit of beautiful timber they will end up all being cut down
harleyclarkey
It is patently clear that they blatantly felled the tree in full public view and assumed no consequences at all.

Dibbler
“After [police] arrested the low-level workers, local people became upset because they have sympathy for them,” said Puthik, explaining most believed the high-ranking officials should take full responsibility for the orders they had given their staff." Indeed! On the one hand the PM and is family control the rosewood trade, using the army to organize the extraction of timber from all national forests, and even theft from across the border in Thailand, supplying Vietnamese and Chinese traders. On the other hand, under public pressure he orders the arrests of the minions hired to supply the timber. They'll probably each do a couple of months in jail before being freed when the public has forgotten the issue, and back to their jobs in the forestry office. Life is cheap in Hun Sen's kleptocracy. kiwikeith
hard to find a thing in this country that is not tainted. I hope the wood gets used for musical instruments, makes lovely guitar fret boards than go to waste.
