Chonburi again - this time it's a pick-up with a huge "package"

CHONBURI: -- Thairath reporters posted a picture of what many will see as just another example of the scary nature of Thai roads.

This time it was a heavily overloaded pick-up truck with several huge packages.

The ancient and battered red truck was loaded four meters high with plastic for recycling.

It was on its way from Pattaya to Sattahip in Chonburi province yesterday.

Thai Rath opined that in these difficult economic times everyone is trying to scratch a living and safety is often obliged to take a back seat.

But they were most concerned for other road users as the heavy load caused the pick-up to list badly and questioned what would happen if it took a bend at speed.

Yes, only in these 'difficult times'. It's usually safety #1 in Thailand.

All the time you have baht buses loaded up to the roof with

School kids with  the front of the bus nearly off the ground.

running  up and down the Sukhumvet every day

Who cares about a pick up with cargo on it,   over loaded.

Ah yes,  the stupid article above.

Amazing Thailand :coffee1:

Just wondering if it's one of the 37 million mentioned in an earlier article. Probably not, couldn't possibly be licensed in that condition. (Going by the test my vehicle has to pass every year).

Does being poor and trying to scratch out a living really put these people above the law here.

Also note that in typicle Thai fashion he is not keeping left! Which could help his centre of gravity problem 555

A pickup with a huge package. Before reading the article I thought they were talking about a ladyboy or male escort. I was wondering if the package was bigger than the cops package.

Probably no plate , no insurance ......there are a few old pick-up truck similar to this one  where I live in Chiangmai.

They do not need inspection as they do no bother with the rest....

Did it crash???? Did it kill someone???? You PRESUME it's not tested (most trucks caashere can easily pass yearly inspection with things dropping off  the body). Did it cause anyone on here any hardship????.  People here have to make living not all have money to drink away. Not as lucky as Western people not have great paid jobs. Scratch a living best they can. How you think thai worker feels when see farang in brand new pick up lording it over locals. Time you all wake up and count yourselfs lucky to not have to scratch a few hundred bhat every day to feed family.

Ha Ha,  get away.

Real Poor people don't have a pick up's  , they only have a

motor bike,   if there lucky.

Think you need to wake up, mate.

As for your views about safety on the roads,   you show your lack of

Knowledge of what goes on ,  on the roads of Thailand.

I some how think if that pick up hit you,   maybe

you would be singing a different tune.

Is it only Falangs that have new vehicles in Thailand ?

come on man ,  you cant justify that picture above. :jap:

BTW  think its about 64 a day die on the roads  here,   the driver in the above picture is typical of the i don't care attitude, that creates the 64  dead  a day in Thailand.

Perfectly legal according to the dl lessons i got in thailand. They are allowed to go high but not to go WIDE limiting the mirror view!!!! The load is ALSO allowed to stick out at the rear. I think up to 80cm or so...

I suspect those sacks are full of Burmese workers, so not overloaded, as no such thing as legal Burmese. QED

At least, that will be the drivers defence if caught. :coffee1:
