Video posts of children violate their rights

BANGKOK, 17 November 2016 (NNT) - An organization for the protection of children has indicated that social media posts of video clips of children violate their rights and increase the risks that the children will be harmed.

The organization on Wednesday arranged a seminar on children’s rights in the social media and mobile phone age. The seminar discussed posting and sharing of video clips of children, especially the clips with violent and distressing content that mentally affects both the viewers and those in the clips. The seminar also pointed out that social media users who posted the clips often thought that the clips were funny and adorable without realizing the danger that might occur.

Inspector of the Department of Mental Health M.D. Phanphimon Wipulakon said social media posts of pictures of children affected the children directly. If the children were identified in the posts, they might be in danger, said the doctor. The children might also feel bad about the posts when they grew up, the doctor added.

People who posted and/or shared clips which depicted child abuse were subject to criminal liability in accordance with the Child Protection Act and the Cybercrime Act, said M.D. Phanphimon.

  1. I am sorry, but I must disagree. For many centuries  artists and sculptors painted sculped and even photographed children, even liturgical scenes. This push is likely a push by a twisted group who find any image of humans in any form anathema.

There are religions for that. And I respect them for their beliefs but you cannot impose those rules on all people.

And to suggest it leads to anything is stupid and there are no real facts to back that statement.....

Of course that is only my opinion

In Nanny States in the "civilised"west, it is already a serious matter to publish photos of any minors / children who can be identified - without the permission of their parents. Videos come under the same rules.
