Just a parking problem - but Thai man kicks phad Thai seller in the head in anger

BANGKOK: -- It was just a minor dispute over a parking space. But a 58 year old Thai man would not let the matter rest.

Rather than walking away he aimed a flying kick at the neck of a 35 year old Thai woman selling phat thai by the side of the road.

The action was caught on CCTV in a nine minute video that shows some youths moving their bike and the neighbor parking his truck in their place.

But the feud continues - mostly with finger pointing from the man before he aims his kick at the woman preparing meals. The kick is at 4.40 on the tape.

Reporters caught up with the food seller called Praphaporn Phoonphon at her stall in Suksawat Soi 76/2 in Prapadaeng.

She said she had been selling there for five years and had never had a problem with her neighbor who has a property behind her stall, reports Thairath.

But on October 24th around 9.30pm he was most upset. Some customers moved their vehicles but he would not let the matter rest though she was shocked when he lashed out at her.

Her husband stepped in but she told him to leave it, she didn't want any trouble. But there was blood coming from her mouth.

Police were called and the neighbor waited for them.

Samut Prakarn police said that Han Jongmankasemsuk would appear in court this week charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The clip was posted on the Youlike (clip det) site only yesterday by someone you said: "My sister was attacked from behind - she could have died from that kick".

typical really, thai men see nothing wrong with attacking women or kids especially when their backs are turned. One has to wonder if it is the only way they can defend their tiny manhood, truly pathetic and if its not attacking women it ganging up so they have a better chance of winning the fight, they are simply cowards.

Some people seem to think they own the Public Highway outside their house, others seem to think it is their right to run businesses on the Public Highway (including taxis, noodle stalls, etc). it is exactly that- the Public Highway and no one has more rights than others over it.

Not condoning his actions in any way but this has the whiff off a long running dispute with no Jai Yen Yen involved.

She gets a kick in the head and green shirt basically keeps on cooking. Crazy stuff.

That man in the green/yellow shirt cooking, may have been her husband. If he had got involved and allowed the Phad Thai to burn, she would have then given him a good $hit kicking. These people sounded as if they've been bickering for a while before this.

I think he was her neighbor. Owns the lot behind the stalls. You're right of course re deescalating things. Doesn't make the visual any less mad.

Another immature Thai 'Boy' ( regardless of age ) venting his Violence as usual.

Kicking a defenceless women who had done nothing wrong.

Cowardly and I hope the Court gives him a couple of weeks in prison.

Also, big compensation to the Woman.

Every time I see something like this, I remember that ridiculous Thai phrase that rang in my ears at every turn when I lived in TL, "Khon Thai Jai Dee", which is absolute b*ll*cks. All this talk of being a non confrontational people :omfg:.

Agreed the Violence here is under very thin veneer.

On my old soi outside a fancy big house was the soi road. The owners of the fancy house used to put traffic cones all along their long wall to stop people from parking there. People used to park all down the soi. Sometimes when I'd be back walking down late at night I'd throw the cones over their wall.

Immature I know, but it sure was fun.

While i certainly dont condone his actions (which seem to becoming the norm these days rather than the exception), It looks to me like he originally approached the woman and asked her if the bikes parked there belonged to her customers and she totally ignored him. He then had to ask the customers to move them himself. She said she had no problem with him, but he clearly says around 2:50 mins that this problem happens every day. This looks like a rather long running simmering dispute that finally came to the boil to me.

In the west the husband sure would have hit him back, the coward...kicking a woman in the face from the back when she's not aware of it. And after that he grabs in his pocket, guess he has a gun ready for the husband.

Who cares? TIT not the west...

The kicker was obviously higher on the social ladder... and this is law around here. Feudal to the bone. Him big.

Looks like it's not her stall that's blocking this man's driveway but her customers parking that is....

Imagine coming home late at night and having to go out and ask the people in the stalls to please kindly move their cars so you could park inside your driveway

Not condoning but it's very understandable

Doesn't excuse kicking a woman in the mouth from behind. Perhaps the guy should have approached the customers rather than stall owners. When he did go directly to them they moved their bikes immediately.

As a young man, my Mother taught me, never hit a woman except in self defense.

There is a serious mental problem in Thailand, everybody seems to think it is alright to kick people whether they are standing, laying on the ground, you know just kick them, serious mental problem !! No respect for human life !!
