Boatman hangs himself on Pattaya Beach

PATTAYA: -- At 10pm, on the evening of November 17, Pattaya rescue services were called to a scene close to Pattaya Beach where a young man had been found hanging.

The victim, twenty-four year old Mr Sarayuth Kantawong, had earlier been drinking. His girlfriend told officers that he had been complaining about his work and his personal life.

There appeared to be no signs of violence and the police have concluded that the young man has taken his own life.

In what appears to be a sinister attempt by the city authorities to prevent unpleasant news about Pattaya being published, a television reporter was hungrily denied access to the scene by Pattaya police officers.

The reporter says he was threatened and told not to report ‘bad news.’

"Hungrily?"

Maybe his spell checker did not recognise a new word "grily"  meaning chased away by gorillas... :cheesy:

The term, "rescue services" seems to be a misnomer!

I sometimes complain about my work and my personal life.

If you find me hanged on a beach, though- please find the bastards that did it.

The reporter says he was threatened and told not to report ‘bad news.’  Having reported that particular "bad news" he might find that more "bad news" might follow him.

An important fact here, yet omitted, was who told the reporter not to report bad news.

The police and City Hall suppressing bad news in Pattaya has been going on for years. I remember them being particularly embarrassed when news of a Kiwi horribly murdered here a few years ago got out.

Also note how many bad news stories break in the Nation and Bangkok Post (and sometimes foreign media) these days, and not in the oppressed local media.

And finally, look at how little 'bad news' updating goes on in the Pattaya News forum here compared to, say, the Phuket News one.

I've noticed that too.....same stories stay up for a while
