Why do people not accept a majority vote

Recently  the American election and Brexit referendum in the UK   produced a  majority vote .Brexit was close but the American election was a true victory by the people who voted for Donald Trump .Both majority yes votes have been the subject of protests from the losers whose supporters simply did not garner enough support.

Do you agree If you take part in any democratic  ballot you should accept the majority vote even if the winner is not to your personal choice .
