Illegally built resort in Phetchabun removed

PHETCHABUN, 23rd November 2016 (NNT) – Administrative officials, soldiers, and policemen have joined forces to demolish the buildings of illegally constructed resorts, that have exceeded the time-frame permitted in the court’s removal order.

The Vice Governor of Phetchabun Krit Kongmuang, today announced that officials had demolished structures in Small Ville Resort, Phu Sai Mok Resort, and Awa Resort in Phetchabun province following the court order demanding owners remove the buildings themselves.

The demolitions by officials took place as owners had failed to remove the structures within 30 days after the order was issued. The demolitions have however received cooperation from resort owners who agreed to remove the structures themselves, while officials have helped some resorts to demolish some buildings owners could not remove in time.

The three resorts are among nineteen judged by the court to be illegally constructed, with removal orders issued by the court on 14th October 2016.

Resort owners have to pay the removal costs of those sections demolished by the officials. They are required to make a payment within 30 days after receiving the invoice.

The Phetchabun Vice Governor added that the authorities will continue to address the improper holding and usage of land in Phu Tub Berk Forest, be it for logging or resort construction. The operations will proceed in orderly fashion according to the court’s instructions.
