Taking my car over the Thai/Laos border?

Hello people.  Will I be allowed to take my car over the border driving to Vientienne?  It is a 1 year old Everest fully paid for in my name.  Do I need a special document or anything?  Is it safe to take it over - i mean in terms of the Laos police deciding to 'keep' the car for any reason and not letting me bring it back over lol?

YES, u need first obtain the cars passport ( purple book) from where you get ur yearly sticker. cost 50 baht or so, just take ur cars blue book and copy of ur passport to obtain it, Here in phuket it takes a day

 

This needs to be stamped OUT of thailand and INTO Laos. also carry the cars Blue book with you as you need it to obtain the temp export document at customs when you depart, , Buy Mandatory  insurance at the border
