Swensen’s speaks out after photos of famous dog licking ice cream spoon went viral

Ice-cream franchise Swensen’s has responded to the controversy regarding a dog lady who brought her famous Chihuahua to one of their shops and let her pooch eat ice cream from a spoon reserved for human customers.

The pet instagram account “Yuta Family” was the source of much conversation this week when the owner of the account posted a photo of one of her famous pets, her brown Chihuahua “Nami.” The little pooch was enjoying mango ice cream from a Swensen’s spoon.

The Yuta Family Instagram account tells the visual story of a family of seven Chihuahuas bossed around by a fluffy cat. It made headlines earlier this year and has become a world-famous pet Instagram account.

I would be more concerned if the spoon had been used previously for durian flavoured ice-cream.

I should imagine, Swensens being a U.S.franchise, that they have an adequate supply of hot water to wash all their cutlery and crockery.

What the heck is the big deal. The dog is probably cleaner than most of the customers.

Dogs should not even be allowed in, disgusting animals

And nobody cares about the filthy streatstalls who even don't have running water to clean the plates..soi dog pissing against their goods, cats walking over the stands/food....or all the open unprotected food on the markets, if one sneezes it's all over other customers' meals.

Or if i walk on a market and get splashes of chopped chicken/frogs/pigs/fish on my shirt nobody cares. They even give the change money with the same bare hands or gloves they used to cut the meat.

What a hypocrites.

And dogs shouldn't be allowed in restaurants...also babies shouldn't be allowed in Sizzlers, i've seen them walking over the buffettable while daddy hold their hands...i've seen them change diapers in restauratns on the tables, putting bare feet on chairs, picking their nose while they are waiter in a restaurant...

and durianicecream is nice!

Why are only dogs allowed into shopping malls? I have a Siamese cat that is well behaved and would love to go to Swensens with me. It's a dog's life in Thailand. Cat's should be given more prestige.

No cats! Dog owners don't want their dogs bleeding all over the floor after challenging the cats.

There is always a risk when dogs or humans lick anything.

That's not a dog, it's a rat in a sweater! Pathetic little thing. Baffling how these people's' minds work that get all loved up like that with these things? She should probably find herself a bloke; relieve some tension etc. :whistling:

Sorry, couldn't resist

Yeap there was a news story by Chandrakesem University about this stall behind the campus that collects and reuse all the straws after use by the customers simply by washing them in the basin after use.

Isn't that the same as collecting and washing the utensils for reuse? unless they don't wash them properly enough.

The fastest way for diseases to spread is actually money. who knows how many times money changes hands in a day and who handles it.

The concern for the dog's health wasn't exactly a top priority of those concerned. On the other hand, a human sneeze and a couple of bacterias everyone in Thailand already carries, is worthy of mass hysteria?

Dogs eat their own poop.  'Nuff said.

The cat, when also offered ice-cream, presumably said "Mai-Ow" ?

Mine doesn't say "Mai-Ow" he says "Hew, hew, hew" which is Thai for hungry.

A famous dog??? I want it's autograph!

The lady in the restaurant near me wears one disposable glove when preparing food. Only problem is she uses the same glove when handling money. Do not worry though - on the wall behind it says "Eat clean, eat safe". So, you know.

Batty old women like these feed pigeons or fill their homes up with cats in the west. Here they ponce around shopping centers with toy dogs in bags or luk thep dolls treating them like human babies, they are clearly demented. Swensens say ALL pets are banned from entry so how did this looney get hers in and then have it eating at a table? clearly Swensens need to be having a word with the staff at this branch

My gawd, even the dog world has its Kardashians now!

p.s. Why does the spell checker here know the word, Kardashian???

How are dogs any more disgusting than other animals?? Or are you an equal opportunity animal hater?

Dirty, noisy little pests

The most common diseases associated with dogs that can cause human illness are:
  • Campylobacteriosis (Campylobacter spp.) ...
  • Dog Tapeworm (Dipylidium caninum) ...
  • Hookworm (Zoonotic) (Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense, Uncinaria stenocephala) ...
  • Rabies. ...
  • Roundworm (Toxocara spp.) ...
  • Brucellosis (Brucella spp.)

Summary: while dogs' mouths are no cleaner than humans', they are not dirtier. And the bacteria they carry pose less danger to you than the bacteria in the mouth of that bargirl you kissed last weekend....

When you see a sign like at the door of a 7-11 or Tesco or Swensen's in Thailand it means:

Other Person's Dogs Are Not Allowed

Nobody hates dogs as long as they are no

Never the less they are still BANNED from entry in Swensens, not all of us kiss whores.
