Swensen’s speaks out after photos of famous dog licking ice cream spoon went viral

Well, Thais do everything else to mollycoddle their miniature rats; might as well let them eat from a spoon.

Dogs eat their own poop.  'Nuff said.

Have you ever engaged in oral sex?

In Makro's a few days ago.

Would you put your fresh veg in there after it's rubbed its arse all over the bottom, or slavered over any food remnants?

I am sure this dog is a lot cleaner than some of the people you see  This is not disgusting. You can catch a lot from a human eating from the spoon Just wash it

No big deal just a lot of Thai political correctness bull

That is one dog at one table -- what if everyone brought multiple dogs to every table -- would that also be no big deal to you especially in a 5 star hotel restaurant?

If I ever encountered a dog in a Thai restaurant that posted a no dog sign I would ask the manager to get that xxxxxxxxx dog out out here. -- and I once did at a Tesco.

Yes, but I brush regularly.  And I don't randomly insert my nose in other people's butts or lick my own genitalia (because I can't, otherwise I would never be able to leave the house).

Listen, I love dogs and this is certainly a gross overreaction by Thais but let's not pretend that a human mouth and the mouth of a dog are on par in terms of cleanliness.

I have no intention to go to Europe -- I've heard that it is full of Europeans. If there is a sign posted at the door of a food establishment that says no-dogs, then who are you to decide to bring in a dog?

BTW I believe that the rule in Europe as well as several US states is that dogs are sometimes allowed at outdoor facilities of restaurants only.

Would you like me to provide you with the (longer) list of diseases you can catch from humans?

Why are only dogs allowed into shopping malls? I have a Siamese cat that is well behaved and would love to go to Swensens with me. It's a dog's life in Thailand. Cat's should be given more prestige.

The (cats) have more prestige! They don't get eaten  - I think.  :whistling:

I love dogs but I don't believe they should be allowed to sit at a table nor eat from plates/spoons used by humans.

Yuck!

I realized that BigC "allow" cats in their warehouse – saw this fellow the other day testing this week's cat-food bargain – it had scratched a hole big enough to put it's head inside the bag and dine of the goodies...

Please don't say pussy. Shhhh

Oh no too late. Whoops at least I didn't say licking and pussy together, that would be rude.

Cats are great, not like those pathetic human addicted dog creatures, cats have some dignity at least

You have not been to Europe then since France and Spain allow dogs accompanied by their owner  So don't comment on what you are guessing on

I have been to those countries several times and have friend there as well Dogs are allowed

sounds like a lot of dogshit to me,complete nonsense to put this on line.

Swensens say ALL pets are banned from entry so how did this looney get hers in and then have it eating at a table?

It likely scurried in from the sewer and under the table. The wench felt sorry for the thing so threw a sweater on it and fed it ice-cream.

You're damn straight I have not been to Europe -- All I read was this:

"Don't leave Fido in the hotel room when it's time for dinner. A dog's gotta eat too! And no matter where you're headed, we can point you towards a great sidewalk cafe, brew pub, coffee shop, or other eatery in Europe that will welcome Fido to join you at an outdoor table. Bone appetit! "

https://www.bringfido.com/restaurant/region/europe/

If I ever did find myself in Europe even California for that, I certainly would not go to any restaurant that allowed a dog inside of the restaurant or even outdoors for that matter.

The dog likely got into Swensen's because even though the owner likely saw and just walked past the no dog sign, she realized the young people working at Swensen's would not tell her to get the dog out of here.

I don't worry about it -- I'm not going and knowing that I might not be able to eat in a dog free environment maybe confirms that. But this is Thailand and the 7-11's and TescoExpresses I use all have no dog signs.

I have a house dog Never goes out gets baths regularly has his shots all the time when needed

This is not a dog with a health threat to humans Here is a quote for Web MD

"Dogs and the health benefits for children. Not only do children who grow up with pets have less risk of allergies and asthma, many also learn responsibility, compassion, and empathy from having a dog or cat. Unlike parents or teachers, pets are never critical and don't give orders. "

I remember back in the 60's a sign put outside our local pub in Bradford read "No Black's, no Irish and no dog's" so if you were a black Irish wolfhound you had no chance of getting in.

The lady in the restaurant near me wears one disposable glove when preparing food. Only problem is she uses the same glove when handling money. Do not worry though - on the wall behind it says "Eat clean, eat safe". So, you know.

My mum once saw a worker in a bakery not wearing gloves while handling the pastries and she commented on it.

I ask my mum if she handles money or touches all other kinds of stuff with her gloves on when she prepares food in her own stall?

She sheepishly replied "Yes.."

Summary: while dogs' mouths are no cleaner than humans', they are not dirtier. And the bacteria they carry pose less danger to you than the bacteria in the mouth of that bargirl you kissed last weekend.... [emoji2]

I know this will get some reaction.

Many times if  get a minor cut or scratch I have no problem to let my GSD to have sniff at it or even lick it. It always heals very fast with no problems.

I believe, you may not, that a well looked after healthy dog has an a mouth cleaner than most people would imagine, even antisceptic to some degree. ( Street dogs an obvious exception)

Ref the comments that dogs eat poo I have never seen a well fed, well looked after family dog do that.

Someone posted a list of diseases dogs could carry, anyone want to post a list of diseases humans could carry and pass on to you through contact or proximity?

What's a bloody dog doing in an eatery anyway?  Don't they have any hygiene laws?  In Australia dogs aren't even allowed through the doors of shopping centers or shops (Guide dogs excepted).  Businesses face heavy fines if they allow an animal in.
