help with looking for rental house

Featured Replies

We live in north Thailand but are interested in a second home to rent on Phuket.  Tried to use the TV classifieds, but I think it is still being upgraded. There's a million ads online for vacation rentals, but not much for long term renters. (I want to rent for a year before considering a purchase) Anybody have any tips on a reliable agent in the area? Small villa or condo, 2 bdrm, pool, some form of security, etc.  Thanks!

Advertise in one of the local English language newspapers if you can

Be prepared to get killed in the rush of replies, there are plenty of long term rental properties available at present, its tenants there is a shortage of

Better come here, stay in a hotel/guest house and drive around. The good deals are not on internet.

^^^ What bubblegum said, drive around. The agents will screw you.

Thanks for the tips. When everybody says drive around, not sure what that means. Do people just post signs on their property?

And yes, I know agents will screw you and I was hoping to avoid them. So I was hoping to make a deal direct with an owner. The local classifieds seem to be a good idea.

Thanks again.

You will see lots of rental/lease signs hanging on gates, poles, etc. LOTS

Check some facebook groups, there's a fair number of them out there and they are more active than rental websites.  This will at least give you a better idea of actual prices and properties available.

check out the phuket gazette for condos

for homes, as everyone said,u find the area you want to rent in an drive around and look for the signs,

Suggest for homes, wait till mid april....
