HK or Other

Featured Replies

Sorry if this is a stupid question but been looking for an answer through the forum for the last two hours, but can't seem find anything which may be of use.

My friend has a Moroccan passport which requires a visa to Thailand, she is looking for a SETV - or a transit visa.  She has never visited or had a visa for Thailand in the past.

We have all the flights booked and ticketed to stopover in Phuket on the way back from India & Sri Lanka.   We tried applying in China on Tuesday the 13th, but due to the lack of one employer guarantee letter required they didn't take her application - they didn't accept a certificate of employment!  If she applies on Wednesday (today) with the correct documentation, according to them, the earliest they can give her the passport back is Tuesday of next week which is too late as she will have started her journey by then.

Is it possible for her to fly to HK, and apply on Thursday morning (the 15th) and get back the visa on Friday morning (the 16th)?  The documents I gather needed are:

Passport (w/ landing slip)

Application

Photos

Fees

Copy of Itinerary, Ticket, Hotels

Bank Statement

anything else missing?

Thanks

My recent experience with the Hong Kong Thai consulate has been very positive. However, I have UK nationality, and they may be less obliging to Moroccan nationals. As a general rule, you would apply Thursday morning and receive the visa early afternoon Friday. If you apply early Thursday morning, explaining the situation (flying out too early to collect in the afternoon) maybe they will be willing to help. For Western nationals, they seem only to need photocopies of passport and landing slip, plus the visa photos (currently, a tourist visa is free). At most, I would expect them to ask for flight tickets and bank statement in addition, but no guarantees. Good luck!

Having just come back from a Visa trip to the HK consulate, I can assure you it is very easy and straight forward. Once you arrive at the consulate, you get your form from the desk they will help you if needed. After the from is completed, get a number from the ticket machine and wait in line. The passport should be ready for pick up by the time the consulate opens the next day. Collected mine by 9:30.
