Police chief says police have to exercise extreme caution in arresting Dhammachayo

 

 

BANGKOK: -- Police have not dragged their feet in the arrest of Phra Dhammachayo but they merely want to be cautious, Pol Gen Chakthip Chaichinda explained on Monday.

 

The national police chief disclosed that the police had not yet decided to search Wat Dhammakaya to look for the former abbot of the temple charged with forest encroachment and construction of the World Peace Valley Khao Yai dhamma centre.

 

Also, the embattled monk is facing charges of money laundering and conspiracy to launder money in connection with the funding of Klongchan Credit Union Cooperation, he added.

 

Noting that Phra Dhammachayo is an important figure, Pol Gen Chakthip said police had to move cautiously and in compliance with the law, taking into consideration other implications.

BANGKOK: -- NATIONAL POLICE chief General Chakthip Chaijinda yesterday urged the National Office of Buddhism (NOB) to consider the controversy relating to Dhammakaya Temple’s former abbot Phra Dhammachayo as part of planned Sangha Act reforms.

 

Chakthip said such controversies should not be allowed to occur, while other organisations had already started reforms.

 

Chakthip added that he had not delayed the operation for police to enter Dhammakaya Temple to arrest the fugitive monk, who is charged with money laundering and receiving stolen assets linked to the Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative embezzlement case, as well as separate land-encroachment charges.

 

He said police had not raided the temple because they were working on related cases, adding that the arrest of such a prominent suspect had to be done “by the book”, considering all factors to prevent events from getting out of control.

Oh, I think that we are way beyond that point already.

Just another pathetic points-scoring opportunity, and yet another example of the culpable conflict between the RTP and DSI (that the junta chooses to allow to continue) !!!

 

 

Chaichinda may well try to argue that "...police had to move cautiously and in compliance with the law, taking into consideration other implications...", but the bottom line in this whole fiasco is that the DSI did have a court warrant that authorised them to search all buildings and structures at Wat Dhammakaya to look for and arrest Phra Dhammajayo.

The first caution is to <deleted>!!!! 

Unfortunately a lot of Thais and fallangs still appear to be drinking the junta koolaid whilst wearing their rose tinted spectacles, sadly it appears that there is no antidote to stupid.....

Just wondering when it will all end? how many more decrees, announcements,

crackdown and plans to bring to justice ONE MAN?

how many police and army generals and men is needed to execute the law

of the land unto one frail person?...... it's shaping up to be one of the biggest

farce in law Thai enforcement's history.....

Considering this country values face so much I am surprised they have allowed this absolute farcicul 'soap opera' to continue. The words organize, P up and brewery clearly come to mind describe this whole escapade. I am writing the ending of this soap now.

The Monk is innocent of all charges or he has ascended somewhere but it was all a mistake.  All sides face saving, saved.

dont get it. he should be out of the country by now. why all the stalling?

It does not seem that they even know where this man is.  These officials seem to lack any finesse in police work, which is no surprise.

Poor Dhammachyao is very sick, blood clot, diabetes etc.  

Yet this 1 man is making the whole police force and government look useless/ ineffective/ pathetic

bunch of wimps.

Not 1 of them has the balls to arrest him why???

Answer because too many of them have too much to hide/ lose if he is questioned about any wrong doing.

Translation for all the excuses and foot dragging.....the monk knows where all the bodies are buried.

Why must they keep blabbing and babbling to the media every 2nd day about this.  Just shut up and go get the errant monk!

While this is all frustrating to many of those from the civilized world, it does make for some good entertainment at times. I.e. Keystone Cops, Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Monty Python, and other comedy teams/skits from the past.

 

Again I question why Mr P does not interject anything regarding this face losing farce. If it involved the Red Shirts it would be long over. with defendants in jail with no bail. After a good attitude adjustment in private at a secret military base.

Then why did they all go  through the time and effort to obtain (how many ) search and arrest warrants thus far. these folks need to carry their cliff notes with them to refer to before making such stupid remarks and continue to patronize anyone with a memory or brain matter.

Should  check just in case the Wat Dhamakaya Group is paying monthly advisory fees to any Police or Governmental Officers.

Didn't the PM issue a gag order on discussing this subject a couple of days ago yet no one seems to be paying attention ?

Yes it's best to exercise extreme caution in this case, don't want to upset anyone important now do we ?

I guess you missed some of the news, it is about 8-0 now !

This isn't really about "money laundering" or "forest encroachment", or even a vintage automobile.

 

The Junta wants to "reform" everything, (OK, maybe not education, the police, the military, the judiciary), including Thai Theravada Buddhism. This means, as with most things here, marginalizing the sects of the masses ( Maha Nikaya - reddish/orange robes) and the new-age sect, Dhammkaya, while reinforcing the "acceptable" sect, Dhammayuttika Nikaya (Yellowish-Greenish/orange robes).

 

It's all about controlling the people, and making sure the phrai stay subservient to the amart.

Thais do not make mistakes. Everything they do is perfect. It will be described as a misunderstanding (the monk thought he could break the law with impunity and the authorities thought that he couldn't and then apologise for their misunderstanding).

If there was a large reward offered for the captureof Dhammachayo the RTP would immediately turn into men of action regardless of any consequences. In fact the police could offer up such a reward and then collect it themselves as they did with the table full of cash for the terrorists.
