PM Prayut continues campaign to encourage Thais to exercise

BANGKOK, 22nd December 2016 (NNT) - The Prime Minister is continuing to encourage Thai people to exercise regularly, by leading government officials in a weekly workout session.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha on Wednesday led a group of civil servants and members of staff at Government House to a weekly physical exercise session, which was the fifth of its kind.

This week, the workout started with a warm-up before all present joined in an aerobic exercise on the lawn in front of Thai Khu Fah Building, under the guidance of officers from the Sports Authority of Thailand for 15 minutes.

After that the PM demonstrated his table-tennis skills against an official from the Culture Ministry, who defeated him in two straight games. The PM then continued getting beaten by members of the press.

Following the workouts, PM Prayut met with a representative of the Table Tennis Association of Thailand, with whom the Premier has pledged government support for this type of sport while urging the association to continue searching for talented new players among the young generation, who may go on to represent Thailand.

Without article 44 in his pocket the PM would get beaten in more than just table-tennis.

Instead of playing to the media he should be exercising his brain in a effort to get the economy back on track. The economic growth of Thailand this year looks like being the lowest of all the ASEAN countries.

yeah! the world doesn't revolve around Ping Pong

Amazing he's stuck with this for 4 weeks; usually he's like...squirrel...and moves on to another hot topic on which he is an expert, and wishes to guide the Thai people.

And nothing about diet.

Fat chance this will change things

For once the man appears human, and, for this moment, undeserving of scorn and ridicule.

Its easy to ridicule this but exercise and diet are two things thais really need to focus on.  Clean and and a clean environment and places to exercise would also be appreciated to compliment this great initiative!!!!

To gain any significant benefits (cardiovascular health, increased metabolism rate etc.) from a aerobic/cardio workout, the workout has to be done non-stop for at least 150 minutes a week, moderate intensity. That's about 30 minutes a day for five days. Or break it down in another way that suits your routine. Rough rule of thumb for 'moderate intensity' - your breathing is heavier, heart rate is raised, but you can still hold a conversation with your running partner.

The women in my hood exercise triathlon 8 hours a day: eating, gossiping and drinking.

This indeed is encouraging as while he is out dancing about some one can sneak in and load up a Thai version of Stuxnet into his note book ..........................................:cheesy:

So your people will be healthier and fitter when injured or dying on your roads?

Wonderful example for the people! We all should exercise for the health benefits!

Kudos to the little general...at least until his ulterior motive becomes evident.
