Six complainants visited tech police yesterday saying they had been ripped off for 267,000 baht after they order brand name footwear and smartphones on a Facebook page.

After making the order back in October the man selling the goods gave the group excuse after excuse then said he would give their money back. But then he just disappeared.

The goods - many pairs of Adidas sports shoes and three iPhones - were bought through the page "Adidas Yeezy and NMD Market Thailand".

Later Friday after a request from Udomsuk police failed to root out 33 year old Phiphat Jantarangsri, the claimants petitioned for an arrest warrant against the man to be issued by the Phrakhanong court.

Ah! The perils of Fatebook......becoming more prevalent daily.

Sorry fans.......you've been Zuckerberged!

Apparently, the age of smartphones doesn't make one smart...

Doubt they have even heard of Tom, Dick and Harry...

But wait theres more !

buy and get one FREE !

Remain to be seen  whether FB transaction deemed to be as legally binding,

if not, you'd be using your old runners and phone long time to come....

So much easier, and lots cheaper to simply buy fake ones, you can be 100% sure of what your buying = never be ripped off..

Never really thought of Adidas as a "designer label".

Som nam nah.... tip of the iceberg, I bet more people have conned, but won't report due to loss of face... ignorance is bliss, in LOS...

Never has been but the "yeezy" line which i think has been designed by kayne west is trying to become a "label" think 350 US dollar shoes and 2000 dollar hoodies. Some muppets will pay a hell of a lot more for a pair of kicks as I am sure you know but as you so correctly stated will never be a designer label.

interesting contractual point.  Certainly when you place an order with amazon or any major company on line those are deemed contracts.  But FB is nothing more than an email agreement between the buyer and the seller.  A small claims court or some other court would probably rule it is a contract, but it would take a court order to make things happen, or a threat from a military in the case of Thailand.

It amazes me that so many people trust a person's FB page.  FB is just a transport and interface medium.

And they will sell much faster.

Yesterday on a market there was one stand which was very busy, 30 customers nonstop.

It had a huge pile of  adidas and NB sneakers for sale.

Buying anything without touching it with your fat little fingers and hands first is a risk. Only if you know item and trust the source should you even consider it.

Root him out is he some sort of vegetable? I am amazed at this story that they would send a complete stranger money for designer goods. Go to your closest market and buy copies for a lot less. Most designer items are made in Asia with cheap labor. Whats the diff.

He was at the ATM trying to get some money for this great deal  :whistling:

I just got up from rolling on the floor after falling out of my chair. You've got to love the "sand" and the "stones" of the RTP:

"..........Later Friday after a request from Udomsuk police failed to root out 33 year old Phiphat Jantarangsri, the claimants petitioned for an arrest warrant against the man to be issued by the Phrakhanong court.

So the RTP it seems have already exerted their civic duty to  serve and protect. Step two, let the victims try to convince them to obtain a warrant. As in their minds when the perp. could not be dislodged from his lair it may have been perceived as  a message of at least a "smidgen" or"scintilla" of guilt.

Lesson learned thus far from the authorities: This  is too small to be bothered with. Now move on. Next.

"if a deal seems to good to be true.........................."

"There's a sucker born every minute"

I CAN NOT understand why people keep buying "" stuff "" off a Facebook page.

At least if you buy from a real Domain, there are some footprints left that can be tracked - not that you can't buy hosting in another country -or- use a gift credit card to pay for these services.

Most legitimate hosting company's do some sort of checking, and legitimate registration companies do the same.  Use a WHOIS to look up the domain information paying attention to HOW LONG the domain has been active, where registered and where hosted.  This will give you "" some "" idea if you want to do business with them.

On the domain itself, look to see if they have a contact phone number ( spend some money and call them with a product question ) and have a email address @the-domain..not at this+is+a+free+email+address.com , a big RED flag for me.  Make a small purchase with  money you can afford to loose, pay attention to ..

At time of purchase ...  Who you pay ( Paypall - recourse available, Visa or Master Card CREDIT ( NOT debit ) Card - recourse available - Note: some US banks do treat a purchase on a debit card as if purchased on credit card.

DO NOT send money for a purchase via Western Union or Bit Coin - very little recourse if any.  Upon delivery ... Delivered by whom and was it the domain company printed address lable OR was a over the counter label used

Just a few hints

Because many Thai ONLY use fayboo to sell something. It's too hard for them to make a real websy on the wurlwyweb.

I don't have fayboo so can't be bothered what happens there.

Greed takes over the brain.

So cheap get nothing.

And the mandatory "stalling" tactic followed up with the "refund" tactic looms its' head.
