Ex-Wham singer George Michael dies

 

LONDON: -- Singer George Michael has died aged 53, his publicist has said.

 

The star, who launched his career with Wham in the 1980s and later continued his success as a solo performer, is said to have "passed away peacefully at home".

 

Thames Valley Police said South Central Ambulance Service attended a property in Goring in Oxfordshire earlier.

Great 80s music. No idea what happened to him in the 2000s, drugs and public toilet sex and all, but RIP to him and condolences to his family.

 

I hope he has been "lifted up" to some sort of peace.

 

Doesn't get any more 80s high camp than this. RIP George.

There may be a grain of truth about excesses. On the other hand his impact on others, for the better, was extremely positive. For example, Wham had a huge following in China and got young Chinese up and dancing and exhibiting some freedom of expression; aouthorities tried to stop it but couldn't.

 

He was a talent, no doubt. So young too. Sry George but thanks for the memories on your passing. Elton will express commiserations better. RIP.

RIP, he was a very talented performer.   He will be missed by many.  

One of his greatest songs. And one of the reasons he was the best of British.

Fantastic voice.

He was far from healthy . He almost died a few years ago from pneumonia.

As for drugs. Doesn't seem to have done Keith Richards to much harm.

I think that this one establishes him as a serious popular music artist

 

 

Queen's lead guitarist Brian May was smiling his approval to note...I always liked this song, it has an appealing anthemic quality...and reminds me of my surfin' days in California in the late 70s...

Why so cruel? Heart disease kills many people who seem healthy otherwise. Ever hear of a heart attack or heart arrhythmia? If it happens and you are not  in the right place, you die. See Carrie Fisher, or Alan Thicke. George was clean for  quite some time and as for "sordid gay sex", seriously get a grip on reality.  

It's sad, because he was a piece of my youth. A little bit of me died.

RIP George.

talented... sad... intrigued to know what it was  'peacefully at home' @53  anyway I'm pleased it was not slow, lingering and painful (the thing most of us fear the most)

Never enjoyed Wham,but his early solo work was pure class IMO.........."Cowboys & Angels" is an great example........cool jazz and soul merged together.
