webfact
PM orders tough action against website hackers By THE NATION Prayut BANGKOK: -- PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha has urged law enforcement to take tough action against people carrying out illegal activities in retaliation for the amendment to the Computer Crime Act that was recently approved by the National Legislative Assembly. Several government websites and computer systems have been hacked by an online group opposing the new law, which opponents say violates people’s rights. Meanwhile, national police chief Pol General Chakthip Chaichinda said the police database of search and arrest warrants remained intact and people attempting to break into the system could access only basic data that was already available via the search engine Google. yellowboat
"PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha has urged law enforcement to take tough action against people carrying out illegal activities in retaliation for the amendment to the Computer Crime Act that was recently approved by the National Legislative Assembly." A bunch of appointed YES men approved a draconian law and now it wants to enforce it. It sounds like modern day Thailand. These things did not happen during Yinglucks time in office. Compared to the good general, she looking better and better.
baboon
Surely it is going to be difficult to enforce 'Hitting F5 with political intent'? It's hardly hacking, is it?
TKDfella
PM got his priorities all wrong. He says this and that while others that he actually has complete details of, defy the law without consequence.
arrowsdawdle
"..... people attempting to break into the system could access only basic data that was already available via the search engine Google." Uh-oh. Two things going on here: The little general publically demonstrated that does not understand the scope of networks, data, and cybersecurity. He has teed himself up for anonymous, et. al, to further take down his digital presence from jurisdictions beyond Thai control via proxies and VPNs. (Just to show that they can.) Wait till he learns what social engineering is and what it can do. Edited December 30, 2016 by arrowsdawdle

At least under the Phua Thai, when the people finally woke up and smelled the coffee, they could vote the Shins out. With this lot, there is no way out, short of a civil war, and that may yet come. lvr181
Mmmm................the "authorities" are certainly paranoid about this hacking. Welcome to the world of technology. It certainly provides a challenge to the old ways of class control of the masses.
