PHUKET: -- Rescue workers responding to a call that two “big” snakes were fighting under a restaurant in Thalang on New Year’s Eve (Dec 31) weren’t quite prepared for what their mission entailed.

When volunteers from Srisoonthorn Rescue arrived at the Pae Kruvit2 restaurant located behind Wat Tha Reua at 4:45pm, they were confronted by an angry king cobra measuring 3.5 metres in length – and like all king cobras, the snake could strike while still on the move.

The king cobra was amid a fight with smaller cobra – not of the king cobra species – under the restaurant. The king cobra had already delivered a serious bite to the head of its opponent, but the fight was not yet over.

Still, just a regular bar-fight more or less apparently ... blame the alc, nothin' new there ...

I hope he was repatriated somewhere else in the wild. To majestic a beast for the dinner table.

I take my hat off to the rescue workers, you couldn't pay me to do their job.

Yep another brawl , likely both were legless .  I'll get me coat.

He didn't get that big losing too many fights with other snakes.

Set him back in the Wild buy not near my place...Thank You Too Much!

Nothing to do with mating season, king cobras regularly prey on other snakes

Very happy it did not meet its demise.

Agree. That is one beautiful snake, but keep it away from me.

Don't know, but the largest one captured was in Isaan, somewhere, and was 5.7 meters.

I have been confronted by one, at least 4 metres. When it rose up it stood about my neck height. Thankfully it decided to go away.

My sphincter would have decided to go away before the snake did.

And definitely armless.

Very nice snake. The Srisoonthorn Rescue dudes are very well regarded around here in Phuket, had them over to my house twice with good endings but nowhere near like the one in the photo.

When this big serpent gets angry under your restuarant, who do you call?...'rescue volunteers'

Full marks to these guys..& DO hope that r/rant owner rewarded them.
