People expect backsliding in battling corruption, implementing road map: poll

MOST PEOPLE expect to see a decline in government efforts to tackle corruption this year and are not convinced that the “road map” for a return to democracy will be implemented as promised, a new public poll has found.

 

However, more than 70 per cent of respondents said they still counted on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to improve the political situation this year, according to results of the Suan Dusit Poll released yesterday.

 

Less than half of the people surveyed said they relied on politicians to resolve political issues.

There is currently a lack of political situation - it is forbidden by the NCPO. So nothing to improve.

So is the message from 70% of the respondents,"You can count on Prayut to improve that which does not exist?"

A rather sad statement and seems to contradict this earlier statement quote  However, more than 70 per cent of respondents said they still counted on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to improve the political situation this year, according to results of the Suan Dusit Poll released yesterday.

I'd add to that list backsliding in foreign investment, foreign relations, international image, decentralization, local representation, education, media freedom, public participation, road safety, rule of law, internet privacy, innovation, religious freedom, meritocracy, transparency... did I miss any?

This military government backslides with just about everything they say they are going to do. Corruption, road maps, fix the RTP, make Thai people happy, elections dates.... you name it.

Media opportunists is what they excel at; nothing else seems to matter.

Improve the political situation? Ratber broad and general question for a poll . Improve what aspect of Thai politics exactly? Pass more stupid laws that won't be enforced? Buy more submarines? Promote another brother to top position? What exactly!

Can hardly blame them for nepotism, it's in Thai DNA, look at previous governments. Same Same but definitely NOT different.

Dusit Poll, you know, the same poll that nominated the current PM “Most Popular of the Year 2016” with 80.69%.

Apparently Dusit polls are a good business and they get plenty of orders. They just released a poll  stating that majority of people think the situation in the country is not yet favourable for an election and most of them agree it should be delayed until next year.

Not same same. Previous government cases of nepotism were raised furiously by oppositions and convicted by court and resulted in the PM losing her job. Now any outcry of nepotism are silenced by the junta and nepotism are blatantly displayed with no fear of court repercussion. Like farting in your face and getting away with it.
