What Visa have I been given?

Featured Replies

I applied for a tourist visa from the London Embassy, filled out the application form and marked single entry tourist visa.

I enclosed the form, my passport, £10 for return postage, 2 pictures and £25 for the visa fee as shown on the royal thai embassy website.

I received my passport back a few days later with a visa stamp in it, but also the £25 i sent was returned in the envelope.

I am now confused as to which visa I have, as my stamp is similar to my friends 30 day visa he got on arrival, but I wanted the 60 day one which is why I have applied in advance and paid the money.

Is there anyway I can confirm if what I have is a 30 day or 60 day visa? And if it is a 30 day one how can I change it to 60 days?

Many Thanks,

Tourist visas are free at the moment ( 1 Dec 2016 until 28 Feb 2017 )

There is no 30 day visa for UK nationals, you have the 60 day visa you applied for and £25 beer money courtesy of the Thai government.

I assume you've already entered Thailand and are asking about the stamp in your passport given by immigration when you entered. It will look exactly the same as your friends stamp that entered using visa exempt entry (30 days). The only way to know if you've received the correct permission to stay is to count the number of days given.

If the IO didn't notice the 'Tourist Visa' in your passport they could have given you 30 days by mistake, but that is easily fixed at a local immigration office.

As has been explained before Single Entry Tourist Visas which is what you probably got have ben made fee free from 1 january to 28 February 2017 as a tourism incentive by the Thai goverenment.

I recieved one from the thai consulate in Hong Kong on 29 December 2016 as Hong Kong was closed on new Years day 1 January 2017 so they started the "free" visa scheme on 29 and 30 December 2016

So what is what here.. "fat controller" claims there are free tourist-VISAS 1/12 - 28/2 whilst "Ima falang" claims it is, and should be the dates; 1/1 - 28/2,,,,,,,,

A photo of your stamps, whatever would clear things up.

Fsakes, I can't edit my photo to add writing.

Have you entered Thailand yet?
Do you have a sticker that looks similar to the photo above that states under "type of visa" tourist and "category" T?
If so you have a tourist visa, if not than I have no clue what you have as you haven't really given enough information for anyone to accurately access your situation.
