If you get a multiple entry non-o visa you can apply for the one year extension of stay during the last 30 days of any of the 90 day entries it allows. You don't have to wait for your visa to expire. ...Joe, I Have Non-Imm " O " based on Marriage,Due to expire in June But CAN Do another 90 Days ( Making it expire in September ) before expiry at Nong Khai Friendship bridge, Can I Then apply for a one year extension ( 30 Days before the expiry of that 90 Days ?? ) & If Yes Would I Have to show Bank Accounts at Nong Khai IO, Only asking because pages are fast running out in my U.K Passport...

You can apply for the extension during the last 30 days of the last entry from your visa since it is the same as any other entry.

To apply for the one year extension you will need to show 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income.

To save some space in your passport  you could apply for a 60 day extension at immigration to visit your wife of your current entry for a fee of 1900 baht. No financial proof is needed.

Thanks Joe, Think I'll just go across The Bridge at Nong Khai on March 8th & Just do a straight Turn Around,Then in for a further 90 days,Out again before Visa expires in Mid June to take me through to September.....I'll then go to Savanakhet to get another Yearly Non-Imm....Hopefully they won't have changed the requirements ( No Financial Requirements )

Thanks to everybody who had contributed to this thread. SpeciaI thanks to Ubonjoe, who has provided reliable information for years for all of us. I got today 1 year multi-entry NON-O visa.

This was much easier than I though. After presenting the needed papers, the only question I was presented was: Could I have 5000 baht.

Total cost of the trip was about 15.000 baht, which included flights from and back to Phuket - Udon Thani. Border costs, local busses etc, accommodations and food etc.
