Good Evening everyone,

I am off to Savannakhet in the morning to do a visa run I haven't been before,

I've been living in Thailand for approx 10 years and always enter on Tourist visa and do a marriage extension when my tourist visa expires as I work offshore and my local Immigration recommended this as I work offshore regularly it would be more expensive to do a 1 year marriage visa,

The last couple of times I have arrived home from work I was warned that I was abusing the Tourist visa and wouldn't be allowed into the country unless I had a "proper" visa,

On advise I'm heading to Savannakhet in the morning to do Non a "O" Immigration   Multi entry visa based on marriage and children,

I'm unsure if this is the right visa so any advise would be great,

I was also advised of the usual paperwork housebook etc and to bring a bank book but I would probably not be asked for it?

I travel back to work at the end of the month so a tourist visa would be no problem but I don't want the same problems when I get home from work,

I know UbonJoe and others are well versed on Visas so and advise would be great thanks,

The multiple-entry non-O visa for the purpose of visiting your Thai wife frequently is the correct visa, ie you live and work outside Thailand and wish to visit your wife in Thailand as often as you can.

If you are living in Thailand with your family you should enter with a non immigrant visa and apply for annual extensions of stay which only costs 1,900 baht.

However, if you want to use a visa you can still get a Multiple Entry Non 'O' from Savannakhet and it's your best visa option. You should have no problem frequently entering by air using this visa. You'll need your original marriage certificate and a copy, and signed copies of your wife's ID and house registration book (Tabien Baan).

I think you may mean "enter using Visa-Exempt" - meaning you get 30-days upon entry, correct?

As differentiated from obtaining a Tourist Visa at a Thai Consulate in advance of your trip, and using that to enter.

I ask, because there are no reports of people using Tourist Visas being told this by immigration upon entry, and it would be important to find out if they have begun doing this.  At most, they ask you to produce 20K Baht worth of cash or travelers checks to enter with a Tourist Visa.

In any case, I agree with the others that your best choice is to get a Multiple Entry Non-O based on Marriage from Savanahket.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for your help, all went smooth this morning at the Consulate and I applied for the Non O multi entry based on marriage,

Just the normal amount of paperwork and they didn't ask for any bank book or proof of income,

And before this when I was arriving from work I was getting the visa exempt stamp at the airport and extending it on marriage,

I have wanted to do the Non O for a while as I want to get a Yellow Tambien book and a Thai ID card so it's probably for the better in the long run,

Thanks Again
