NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: -- An entire village in Tambon Krung Ching, Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Noppitam district has been wiped out by runoffs and landslides from Khao Lang mountain.

Mr Thammarong Maneechote, president of Klong Sa Tambon Administrative Organisation, led a group of local officials and villagers to visit Ban Na Khao Lang on foot on Wednesday.

They found to their shock that all the houses in the village within a space of 100 rai were flattened, leaving behind rubbles, fallen trees and power poles and mud.

An official said that the destruction of Ban Na Khao Lang provided a reminder of similar devastation when a big flood struck Pipoon district almost 30 years ago.

houses or  tin shack  huts?

Homes.

Well a few photos would have helped, but it's Thai news so useless images are the standard.

My guess would have been a mix of concrete block walled houses, some wooden stilt type houses, and some bamboo walled huts.

Poor peoples homes that have been destroyed leaving them nothing at all.

It doesn't matter what they were made, of nor does it matter if they were 10 bedroom farang mansions or bamboo and tin roofed huts. The people who lived in that village now have nothing and nowhere to live.

The only reason to ask could be to find out how powerful it was, because a tin shack home is destroyed more easily then a mortar and brick style home.

But you are 100% right those people lost everythign.

The villagers themselves were at fault , they cut down all the trees in the mountains and the result was mudslides. Short sidedness, happens all over this country, Chaing Mai area is really affected also. Just barren hills. So sad !
