My METV is going to expire soon after staying almost 6 months in LOS. I want to take full advantage of the METV and get one more 2-month stay, so I'll have 8 months in total (or 9 if I go for the extension at the immigration office).

My idea was to fly to Yangon and return the same day, since the flights are quite cheap. I've already done that once last year to get an visa exempt entry. Other than that I've been staying here on and off for about 1 year with either tourist visas or visa exempt entries.

- Is this going to work?

- Am I going to get in trouble with Myanmar immigration since I won't be even leaving the  airport?

- Do I need to have a flight out of LOS for Thai immigration? What about having THB 20k on me?

Thank you friends

Your experience in Myanmar should be the same as last time for your Visa Exempt, though others could advise if something has changed.

There is no requirement for a flight out when entering Thailand (though it can help if one is under scrutiny when attempting entry on visa-exempt).   The 20K Baht is a "real" rule, in effect for years, but only randomly enforced.  I would have that in value in cash or travelers checks for any entry into Thailand.

You will have no problem with Myanmar immigration as long as you have a Myanmar visa. They do not care if you are in their country for a minute, a week or a month. Also, there should be no problem on the Thai end. As already advised, having cash on you can be useful in the unlikely event that Thai immigration is suspicious about what you are doing in Thailand for such a long period.

Yangon cheap? Really?

Compare with Kuala Lumpur (from DMK) and consider the saving of visa cost (no visa  for many nations). What national are you?

No big visa sticker or the like, just a stamp.

Zero troubles with KL immigration expected.

@JoshBe

Keep the boarding pass of your return flight to Bangkok in case the Thai immigration officer at the airport should ask to see it upon your return to Thailand.

For anyone who might find this thread via Google or Forum Search:

The same day trip to Kuala Lumpur has worked perfectly. No issues at Thai immigration.

Sorry for the late update ;)
