From Pattaya, what is the easiest to do 30 day stamp run?

Need to go to Cambodia soon to get a 30 day stamp.

 

What border is the best? 

 

I'm a Canadian so get 30 days and not 14 yes? 

 

How much will this cost, will they try to extort me? Do I need plain ticket back scam and health certificate like they used to ask?

You are limited to 2 such land border runs per year.

At the Hat Lek border there is no problem with the same day turn-around. Yes, they will try to extort money off you. I went 2 weeks ago, and prices were as follows: 20 baht health scam, 1600 baht visa (fixed price now), 300 baht "same day back" scam, and I gave 50 baht to a "helper" to expedite matters. Buena suerte.

That depends upon from where you will be starting the border run from.

Ban Laem if in Bangkok and its environs.

Ban Pakard from Pattaya.

I'd do Ban Laem or Ban Packard, instead.  You can pay $30 USD for the Cambodian VOA (bring USD) + 100 Baht tea-money (some don't pay this), no "health" scam, and perhaps a return-fee.  Also, generally less crowded. 

 

Downside is, unless you have your own vehicle, a van will be required for at least part of the journey to any point other than Poipet, which is now an non-useable crossing for this purpose.  If willing to take the van, there is a direct to Ban Laem from Pattaya (061-44-30-847 - have a Thai speaker call), which is a fraction of the cost of the "visa run" companies' offers.

I want the shortest distance and less headache, I live in Pattaya, I may hire a taxi or take multiple short bus rides over a couple of days to reduce my consequitive time on the vehicle.

Can't go to Poipet? How far is ban kapar from border? I can't find it on the map...is it pailin?

It is also called Palin which is the Cambodian side of the border. If you look just south of Poi Pet you will see two crossing shown the first one is Ban Laem and the 2nd is Ban Pakard. Click on the crossing symbol for details.

I don't advise you go to Poi Pet they can be problematic to do a border hop for a new entry.

Yes, it's often called after it's Cambodian site, Pailin.

"Pakard"/"Pakkad" is the village on the Thai side.

Phetprasert Co.,LtdPhitsanulok-Trat Inter provincial bus 638(from Suk road office) Pattaya-Chantaburi.

 

Local bus or any Inter provincial bus traveling parallel to border(they will drop you part way) Chant.- Pong Nam Rong.

 

Songtaew  Pong Nam Rong  - Ban Pakard crossing.  Tell them you are going to the border and they will take you straight there or to Ban Klong Yai (short of the border) from where they will put you on another songtaew to the border or you can get a moto taxi.

 

Reverse procedure.  Last time the songtaew took me from Ban Klong Yai back to Chantaburi for 100baht.

 

Casino/Hotels on Cam. side of border.  Possible Cam. charge if you try to return same day.

 

Visa run couriers on Thaiside will offer to include you with their customers (you stay Thai side they do all the work) when you tell them you are independent.  I was quoted 1200baht all in.

Ban Pakard is the Thai side of the border.

 

Phsa Prum is the Cambodian side of the border.  It has hotels.

 

Phsa Prum is in the Cambodian province of Pailin which has the town of Pailin (30-45mins from border) as it's "capital".

I just called, 320 baht one way, how is the van? Is it a suicide driver?

I went to poI pet yesterday with METV expecting to breeze through and get another 6 days and yes the Exit and Cambodian side was very quick and efficient but long line reentering Thailand then to be questioned why I stay so long"3 months) and also told that I can't use the METV at land crossings and they only stamped me in for 30 days on a visa extension. No Hassel I leave I  10 days but there goes 1 of my 2 entries by land for the year.

It doesn't make sense a valid Visa is only valid at certain crossings! Waste of time and money trying to do the right thing I say

I took it going the other direction, and it was not bad - no "near miss" events that I recall.  That said, I do not like riding in those little things - for legroom alone, a large bus is better; then there is the safety factor.  The reference above to the Phetprasert big-bus looks good - would probably try that my next run to Cambodia - but expect to spend more time, given the multiple vehicle-changes.

While there is no direct bus from Pattaya to Ban Packard, public transport is available from Chanthaburi to Ban Packard. It is definitely a better option than going all the way to Hat Lek and enduring the ripoffs you are subjected to there.

You might want to check for flights from Utapao to Kuala Lumpur and back on Air Asia. No visa fee for Malaysia.

From Bahgkok there is still a service by 16 passenger van that goes to the Cambodian border.

They inclide a Cambodian visa in your passport with  the total package.

The price has just been raised from 2300 to 2400 Baht including transportation for European type farangs (Canadian, U.S., and U.K.).

They go to Ban Laem, although I haven't done one in 3 years, I still get an ocassional email from them offering the service.

12 hour daytrip  journey with 2 rest stops and one hour lunch stop at the border

During the lunch stop you are expected to get your visa stamp taken care of yourself.
