I have a thai friend and she wants me to stay here in thailand, can she get me a NON-O visa i am a foreigner....

I believe a Thai national can sponser you to get a non O visa, but they must have the means to do so. Government worker, business man etc not a Go Go dancer.

No, your Thai friend cannot get you a non-O visa.

Three weeks ago you had a work permit and were working in a school in Thailand. Can't you get an annual extension of stay based on employment?

A few years ago I applied at the Thai Embassy London for a Non Imm O visa. I was under 50 and was not married. It was explained to me that if I were to get a responsible Thai to write a letter of sponsership, they might be able to issue me one. I did not go that route, as I did not know anyone at the time. Was the information I was given wrong or have things changed.

I don't know if this will do you any good because I do not know if you plan to leave the country or convert your non - O to a long term stay.

I asked the That Beijing Embassy what I would need to do to get a non-O 90 day visa, if I first deposit 800,000 Bt in a bank in the Kingdom. They said to return with my my bank account passbook as proof of my deposit AND have a letter of reference form a Thai friend. Good luck.

Yes, things have changed from a few years ago. Then, a non-O visa was available from a Thai consulate in one's home country to "visit family and friends". Recently, i.e within the last two months, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has changed this to only "visit family".

At any rate, the original poster of this topic is a teacher in Thailand with a work permit and thus needs to get a visa corresponding to her situation. Visiting a friend does not allow her to work
