Apartment Woes

Hi All,

I am returning to the worlds best City in June (28th) for two months.

Although going with my long term thai girlfriend, I obviously will not be staying with her family. Oh no, that would be horrific for all concerned.. (weep)

So, I need to find myself some rental place. I am 20, happy to 'rough it' (although I do enjoy air con, who doesn't) and am looking to spend about 5000 Baht a month. I am happy to live in a thai condo-place (as long as the thai's would have a farang neighbour.)

So far, even with the help of my girlfriend's family in BKK we have been unable to find anything suitable. Everything I find aimed at the farang market is too expensive.

I don't mind stretching my budget if I have to, but 5k Baht a month would be swell. I'd like to be nearish to any BTS, but really do not mind which. Last time I stayed in Saphan Khwai.

So..do you brilliant folks have any good suggestions? If I cannot find anywhere easy and need to do it out there, any suggestions on where I should stay while searching?

Many thanks in advance for any replies,

- Will.

5K a month in Bangkok is not going to get you much.

A hot, noisy room with no a/c in a thai apartment block.

If that is all you budget will stretch to you will be better off up country.

Guest chingy

you're 20, are you gonna be in bangkok for the summer only i hope, if you're planning to stay long term, aren't you suppose to be in college,

college boy with thai g/f staying in thailand for summer break, tight budget, that's understandable.

Hey, thanks guys - some useful info here.

Chingy - Yea, my gf and I are going there for just the two months, then both returning to university.

Now why didn't I think of 'bangkokproperty.com'..

I'll post if I find anything else, too.

Why not get the girlfriend on the case. A lot of Thai's I know spend about 5k on a house. Ok so their not up to euro standards but there's a few rooms kitchen etc. As you said you were happy to rough it.

Yea..that was obviously our first move, but as she is here in the UK with me, we had to rely on her family (not something I plan on doing much).

You'd be amazed how hard it was just to get them to repeat the word 'farang' in the context of their relative let alone help him find somewhere to stay.

Heh.
