Accident Collision Claims Two Lives in Samut Songkhram
Picture courtesy of Matichon. A devastating road accident in Bang Khonthi district, Samut Songkhram, has left two men dead in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a bicycle on the evening of 7 July. Police from Bang Khonthi station were alerted to the fatal incident at approximately 19:30 on the Bang Nok Khwaek–Damnoen Saduak road. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless bodies of 19-year-old Mr. Damrongchai, a local rice porridge vendor and 72-year-old Mr. Surasak, who had been cycling to feed stray dogs. Mr. Damrongchai was found with fatal injuries including a broken neck, facial trauma and multiple abrasions. His black Honda PCX motorcycle was damaged at the front. Mr. Surasak suffered a fractured left leg, a head wound and a broken neck. His bicycle was completely mangled, with the front wheel detached and food intended for dogs scattered across the road. Relatives from both families arrived at the scene. Mr. Khamin, 35, the uncle of Mr. Damrongchai, explained that his nephew had just closed his food stall near a convenience store and was riding home to attend to personal matters when the crash occurred. He also noted that Mr. Surasak was a regular customer of both himself and his nephew. Initial police investigations suggest that the collision occurred when Mr. Surasak, cycling from his home, crossed paths with Mr. Damrongchai’s oncoming motorcycle. Both bodies were transported to the Forensic Department at Ratchaburi Hospital for further examination. Police have launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Politics Big Shake-Up: Pheu Thai Cabinet Members Set to Resign as MPs
Thaksin Shinawatra. File photo In a strategic power move, four Pheu Thai cabinet members are anticipated to resign as party-listed MPs. This bold step aims to bolster the coalition government's majority, as revealed by a party insider. The targeted members include Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit and others, all serving dual roles. Their imminent departure paves the way for replacements to be hand-picked by Thaksin Shinawatra, the de facto Pheu Thai leader. Candidates from the 2023 party list will step in, not necessarily based on their ranking. This follows the precedent set by Minister Suchart Tancharoen, who recently vacated his role to make room for another party-list MP. Unlike constituency MPs needing by-elections, party-listed MPs can be replaced flexibly. This strategic manoeuvre is crucial for Pheu Thai to maintain a quorum in the House, ensuring meetings aren't adjourned due to absenteeism. Recent disruptions have highlighted this issue, amplifying coalition concerns. The stability of the Pheu Thai-led coalition has been tested since the Bhumjaithai party, under Newin Chidchob, withdrew with 69 MPs. Despite this setback, the coalition retains 255 MPs, just above the 247 needed for a quorum in the 495-seat House. The upcoming resignations are poised to manage these delicate numbers. The Pheu Thai party is reportedly focused on maintaining stability in government operations and legislative duties. The coalition's strategic reallocation of MPs exemplifies its commitment to consolidating power and managing potential pitfalls. This reshuffle underscores the volatile nature of the political landscape, where strategic resignations and replacements could decisively impact governmental dynamics. Watch closely as these changes unfold, shaping the immediate future of Thai politics. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Thai Newsroom 2025-07-09 -

Economy Trump Dishes Out 36% Tariffs in Shock Move Against Thailand
Why the emoji. The USA has not experienced any great benefit since Trump has been playing TACO TACO. On the contrary, the growth that has occurred was primed to occur over a year ago when US budgets were set and spending plans effected. The disorganized cuts from the simpleton expense cuts are only starting to be seen now, and won't really be seen for another 6 months or more since terminated workers were still being paid. The tariffs have not had an impact yet because they keep being postponed and many US businesses stocked up on raw materials, and keep doing so, during the delay. US tourism is taking a hit now. Do you think US 29 billion is easily replaced? https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/us-tourism-will-lose-up-to-29-billion-as-visitors-plummet-amid-trump-policies/ar-AA1HXvcE?ocid=BingNewsSerp You are typical of the US mentality that thinks in immediate terms. The damage being done will take some time to manifest and when it does, it won't be easily shaken off. Canada's military budget is approx. CAD $35 billion and is increasing its military budget by $9 billion. It currently spends 70% of its procurement on US owned or sourced. material. Last week Canada signed on to the EU defence procurement agreement and will start shifting its procurement to the EU. Australia is expected to follow soon. Those are all billions of dollars of purchases that will not go to the USA. people like you are oblivious because you are too busy with your slogans and insults. The USA can't replace those billions of $$ by repatriating mop production from Mexico, nor can the USA force anyone to buy US products if they are of shoddy quality and not competitively priced.
