KORAT: -- The owner of the Pajero caught fleeing the scene of a serious accident has reported to police in Korat.

The woman owner was the passenger who was caught on CCTV getting out of the vehicle briefly. The driver who did likewise is a relative who is in the navy.

The accident occurred on December 31st when the Pajero hit a pick-up truck that flipped and collided with an oncoming car in another lane. Four people were seriously hurt.

A member of the public saw the footage online and gave police in the Chaimongkhon district a lead that led to a summons for February 3rd being issued.

Yesterday the woman owner, from Chaiyaphum, took the vehicle to police. She admitted being the passenger. She said that both her and the relative who was driving got out to state that they had insurance and would take care of everything.

Then they left.

Police will be interviewing the driver before proceeding with the case and are in the process of contacting the navy.

Hit and run - confess and run...

There should be some charges for the hit and run.Just paying for the collision is too easy an out.

Strange crash. Did the Pajero hit oil and skid or intentionally ram the other car?

Or just changed lanes without checking anything.

Time and time again my relatives have had collisions and near collisions, they just go ahead and change lanes, no checking.  Other family members scold them, the usual response, I want to change lanes, other drivers should automatically got out of the way.

One old aunty insists there is no law to say you have to check.

Any discussions referring to the logic of checking first; her response 'it's too serious to do that', or similar.

I've witnessed this in Thailand also.

However, if you look at the video the Pajero swings out to the left (from driver position) off the inside lane, then suddenly swings back violently across the inside lane onto the outside lane, and straight on to the truck. Almost like you are trying to hit the truck as hard as you can? Strange?

Probably texting on the mobile phone or watching dashboard TV, drifted off to the left, had a little panic and then overcorrected.

How can this be a hit and run?  They stopped and then you see a Police vehicle parked behind theirs.

Then they get back in a drive off.

Looks to me like he lost it swinging out left to overtake on the inside, panicked and over-corrected then it snapped back the other way straight into the pickup. The fishtailing continues right up to the end when the Pajero stops.

The report didn't say that the owner would "just be paying", did it?  The police are looking for the driver via the Navy, the owner wasn't driving.

"Driver was a navy man" well we all know the outcome of this. Couple of wai's and an I'm sorry , next.

No you don't know the outcome of this !!! this has been on all TV Channels, over and over again they said how bad person the driver in the Pajero must be. on one channel they forwarded the possibility that it could be a Chinese in a Rented car !?!?!? now that everybody knows he's a Thai navy man...it will be interesting to see how much and how far he will wiggle himself to minimize he's responsibility.

I can't see what they did wrong if anything. Looks like vehicle behind them caused the collision and they stopped, got out of the SUV, spoke to a person looks like driving a cop car and then later drove off. Are my eyes missing something sinister on the video?

It looks to me like the driver of Pajero was speeding ( as is commonly the case ) and more or less driving down the center line and came up behind the back of the other vehicle too fast.

It looks like the driver of the Pajaroa made a more or less last second quick jerk of the steering wheel to the left, as it looks like the Pajero was going to hit the back of the car in front of it.

You see the Pajero suddenly veers to the left and going around the car in front but goes "too wide" attempting to go around the car in front while the sudden maneuver results in the car fish tailing a little bit and drifts further towards the left shoulder and then the rear left tire of the Pajaro also catches the dirt at the shoulder of the road and creates even more of a fish tail effect and then clearly seen loosing control on what looks like a slightly wet and slick road.

That is what I see.

What do you see....other than reckless driving...as is common.

You can also see the car that plowed into the vehicle that was rolling into the other lane  could have veered around the rolling car although narrowly

There is seen room to maneuver around but the person driving was suddenly caught off guard and confronted by a rolling  and flipping car blocking the path of their car.

Too bad, as the driver of that car had the chance and the room to veer around the rolling and flipping car but locked up the brakes and skidded into the other vehicle ...but at probably half the speed they were traveling just 2 seconds before.

4 people seriously injured

I hope none of them dies.

And then...you see at the end of the Video when the women is driving off, she nearly causes another accident with another aggressive move to force her way into the traffic flow.........unbelievable.

All about me, me first ..give way to what I am doing regardless if it is aggressive driving conduct and dangerous.

The accident did not faze her at all.........carry on as usual...

Yes, we must have watched different videos if you think the Pajero driver did nothing wrong.

A pair of @s*****.
It's not a minor kiss the bum accident that you can just get out of your car and said you had insurance and will take care of everything.

That vehicle flipped. Have they thought is anyone dying inside that car? Well, they probably thought so. They have insurance and will take care of everything (even the about die personnel).
