Hi

I will be entering Thailand on 7th Feb and staying until 6th March (proposed) and then flying on to Phnom Penh. Last entry to Thailand was in from Sept to Oct 2016.

I think visa exempt will be fine for me (30days right....28 days in Feb would take me to 8th or 9th March) ? I have onward flight booked out of Thailand and accommodation sorted.

Reason for my question I am getting confused between this and the apparently now free SETV. I don't want that if I don't need it, even if it is free, because it takes a full page in my passport and is more hassle to get, rather than on arrival at BKK.

I have a 3 visa exempt stamps from last year and 1 SETV. None of these were extended. Presume visa exempt is fine and SETV is not compulsory?

Thanks a lot for any help and clarification.

with your arrival and departure method and itinerary, you should be fine with a visa exempt, you will be stamped in until the 8th, day of arrival is day 1.

Hopefully you've booked the flight to Cambodia already. You might be asked to show ticket for onward flight out of Thailand by the airline that you use to fly into Thailand.

You should be fine, I doubt they'll do anything but stamp your passport

If you really want to be sure, have 20,000 THB (or equivalent) on you.

But you really should pass through without incident

An Australian friend who visits Thailand 3/4 times/year, for 30 days, always comes on visa exempt.

The last time he was told to get a Tourist Visa and no more visa exempt for him. Makes no sense.

I think there's a relatively new rule now limiting individuals to two visa-exempts (OR maybe it's for two SETVs...) per calendar year.  But I'm fuzzy on that and hope I'm not quoted 'cause I don't know.  Hopefully someone who's for sure up on this will chime in.

It is only visa exempt entries at at land border crossings that is limited to 2 per calendar year.

Topic about it is here. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/959042-only-2-visa-exempt-entries-at-border-crossings-per-calendar-year-effective-dec-31st/
