scythe or grass whip

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where to buy an old timey grass whip  or scythe to cut down lawn grass?

I don't have a big lawn and I don't like all the noise, pollution and danger associated with one of the gasoline-powered contraptions.

Any help appreciated.

I've no idea what caused the <deleted> in the topic header, but I've put something sensible :)

Why not get one of the cheapo electric Strimmer (Weed Whacker) devices?

Thanks for that; it was actually meant to stand for 'Where to Find'. I don't like those weed wackers because they are a pain to use because they need to get plugged in and deal with the cord. Also, it rains so much here. Also I would like to get some exercise out of it...anyway, if you see one pls let me know.

Here's a Thai style, no handle of course.  You might even find one locally but I have looked to no avail: http://www.ebay.com/itm/059-THAI-GRASS-CUTTING-GOLF-SWING-SLING-BLADE-HEAD-GARDEN-FARMING-TOOL-/262812662165?

Well, at least we know they exist....I am just going to have to keep my eyes open as I am not inclined to buy things online,,,thanks for the advice and I will let you know.

Have you not got a local metal-basher who could knock up something for you, show him a few pictures, I'm sure he'd get the idea.
