Forgive me for asking what might be obvious to some but I confess I have all but forgotten how to apply for the 1 yr extension based on marriage. I remember last year getting refused twice due to lack of legalised docs and the incredibly expensive hassle ordering apostilled docs on line which came directly to me, again refused as I didn't know they had to go via the London Thai embassy for their stamp before coming to Thailand to be officially translated and then legalised. But I've done all that last year so those legalised docs, plus my Yellow Thai Tabien Baan plus pink i.d. card etc are now all in my possession so this year my wife and I won't need to use one of last year's multiple entries on my visa to day trip to Singapore to gain more time for all the kerfuffle.

So - I've got the 400,000 baht balance that has been maintained in the bank account all year, got all the legalised docs from last year, or my wife has them safe actually, we will get a couple of family pics showing us in our home life, but help please because I cannot remember for the life of me what forms to fill in, and how long before the 1 year extension expires should I apply for the next one. For reference it expires in April this year.  We go to Lak Si Immigration offices by the way. A list of papers we will need, and copies, would be really helpful too.

I think my memory is going! Either that or because it was such a trauma last year - I burnt all my UK bridges, my life and death are here now - that I have wiped it or blocked it from my mind. Thanks all.

I assume part of what you have done is register your marriage at an Amphoe and have a Kor Ror 22 marriage registry to present with you application.

You can apply during the last 45 days of your current 90 day entry from your visa.

Here is my general list of the required document and etc. Marriage Extension Requirements.pdf

If that is what you do when your wife registers the marriage and gets a new i.d. card in her married name then I guess so. They sling forms at me, she says "sign here", I trust her implicitly and sign. So far I have driving licences, pink id and yellow book and a 1 yr extension so I guess it is all in order. I cannot and do not speak or read Thai and rely on her. She's a pretty smart cookie as well as being a beautiful wife.

I'd have come back sooner but I could not open your pdf, I have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC but it does nothing it seems and in the end I renamed the file and opened it with Microsoft Edge. Window 10 strikes again! So I printed it, scanned it, re-saved it thus defeating the Win 10 gremlins. So many thanks for that Joe

We'll be applying at Lak Si which I think is the Bangkok office near Don Mueang. Last time I got a letter at 100 baht from the bank that they refused to accept even though it was scarcely an hour old, and sent wife downstairs with my bank book to withdraw one hundred baht from the ATM, get the book updated again, and photocopy it. That convinced them it was a viable account and they could see the 2 month entries maintained that required balance.

My wife drew them a map on a sheet of paper they gave her, I'd have said they'd have done better with a map of a UK coastal town - it was so inaccurate. Still, they accepted it. We never saw anyone checking up I lived where I said anyway, they're probably somewhere in Kampuchea still looking for the house!

Once again, thank you Joe.

The office near Laksi  is the Chaeng Wattana immigration office.

They want the bank book updated on the date your apply for the extension. You can get the bank letter at one bank branches on the ground floor there.
